I already live too far north in Connecticut. We researched and even visited/toured houses in attempting to move to NC about 5 years ago and even though we are mostly glad we didn't move, the cold and snow each year makes us wish for warmer climates.

This is a very isolated event though, doesn't happen all the time.

They got 60+ inches yesterday, calling for another 24-36 in the next couple of days. This is a monster and something that had to line up perfectly to happen. Also, when I say "they", I mean south and east of Buffalo, the city itself only saw 2.7 inches yesterday.

On average Buffalo gets just shy of 95 inches per season, only 3rd most on average for large cities in NYS.

I love snow but I would never wish for what they are getting from Lake Effect. Cool to experience but I've dealt with 2 feet of snow many times so I can't imagine having to deal with 6 feet or more. That pretty much traps you and that's no way to live. That being said we are relocating to Charlotte, NC. I will miss doing things in the snow but it just seems like a better way of life down there. Plus I can always take ski trips.

If you live in the area its not so much of a hassle. Ive been through similar before and it is a nightmare to deal with but its nothing like say a tornado or hurricane. Most times up here youre back to work like nothing happened within a day or so.

The storm track and intensity will always dictate the temps so any forecast like that doesn't mean a thing until we know those 2 things, which we won't for quite a while.
