I know there has been discussion in the FTP thread, but how has there not been a thread been made on this?

Aside from the obvious outrage on this situation, I am disgusted, as a reporter, that members of the Washington Post in Huffington Post (yes, even HP) were arrested for doing their job. There is a lot of outrage from my fellow journalists on this and it's disgusting.

Really hoping this incident is resolved. It's scary that something like this is actually happening in 2014.

Fucking power hungry pigs. I know a few good policemen but the majority are awful. It's disgusting. The stuff going on merits a revolution. It makes me ashamed to be american. It's like straight of a dystopian movie. No media. Martial law. How is a no media zone constitutional? God bless the land of the free.

breaking into and looting stores accomplishes what in this matter? you all expect the police to allow the town to be trashed? didnt realize that was the citizens rights to destroy their town and set fire to innocent store owners property.

and werent people bitching about obama making remarks about the trayvon martin case? i havent seen any backlash about his comments about this one though.

Thy have not released the officer's name but an eyewitness says he was white.

i've heard a lot of people (not necessarily on ants) complain about them targeting blacks.

I'm not a police apologist by any means but I'll more than likely side with them on most occasions but this situation has just been handled atrociously. I get trying to keep peace in amidst of riotous protesters but a no media zone? what?

sorry, but that doesnt really matter to me. have you seen the videos and footage?

Theyve destroyed many many stores.....theyve shot at police officers.....etc etc.

I agree with you though, the violent looting stuff is really stupid. It's disappointing because it makes the story about the riots, not about the fact that another unarmed kid got killed by a cop. I will never understand why people feel the need to full-on riot. All it accomplishes is make you look really bad and makes it harder to take your point seriously. Actual peaceful protests are really powerful and impactful. The few who choose to riot make everyone look dumb.

There is at least one other witness I know of. I saw her interviewed the other night on CNN.

Those also shoot tear gas at reporters. When the reporters ran away, the police promptly disassembled their equipment. This happened in America, in 2014.

I don't really get what's being accomplished by anyone here. the "protesters" are just putting themselves in tear gas's way, and the police look horrendous and aren't actually stopping any protesting
