Re: Favorite beer of choice?

Celebrated my cousin's birthday with:

Block 15 Sticky Hands
Jester King Atrial Rubicite
De Garde Lee Noir
Bruery Sour in the Rye with Kumquats

All were fantastic, but my favorite was the Atrial Rubicite. So much raspberry flavor and tartness.

Continuing to enjoy all these pumpkin beers as they are released. Pumking is the clear winner, IMO. How is the oak aged Pumking?

Cruised down to Alpine yesterday to score some of their IIIPA Exponential Hoppiness. It was delicious!!! They even bottled it, with a 2 bottle limit, so I'm going to save one for a week until my DMB concert weekend.

Enjoyed a bottle of Spooky by Blue Mountain last night with the lady. Barrel-aged pumpkin beer with cocoa nibs. Sweet, but not too sweet. You get a little booze, and when it warms up, you definitely get the cocoa. I liked it a lot. I have another bottle sitting on my shelf to enjoy on a later date

I've had most of the Drake's lineup - they must make 10 different hoppy beers and they are all great. But for me, Aroma Coma is absolute perfection. My desert island beer for sure.

6.75%, 75 IBUs, and more aroma than any other beer I've had. Classic American hop profile which I prefer over the trendy New Zealand stuff that's everywhere lately. Just flat out awesome.

I just wish it wasn't an $8 bomber than I can only get about 3 weeks a year.

Nice man! Pretty surprising that those amazing beers come from what amounts to a crusty little diner with a few fermenters at the other end of an aging strip mall, huh?

They don't pretend to be anything other than what they are. I know Pat gets a lot of flack for not growing the business but I think he's content. He's able to maintain complete control over his dream while producing beer that makes me people like me flock hours to his brewery. The relationship they have with Green Flash means they're finally getting to distribute beer beyond the San Diego market and into other parts of California, while the proof is in the product. The food is delicious, the beer is delicious, but if you blink you might drive by it. Such a hidden gem in California and an absolute must for any beer lover.

In my continued beer restraint I skipped the FW/FFF collab barleywine, and have decided to skip Velvet Merkin this year too. Self control! Lol.

Used to be my favorite...I'm not sure if the quality has slipped, or other breweries are just making a superior product.

Other breweries have made better pumpkin beers, but it's still one of the most popular and an excellent pumpkin beer for sure.

EDIT: That's why when ordering, I grabbed five cases. I know it'll sell. I sold five cases easily last year.

A little late, but for the next time you find yourself in that situation. All of these places are surely to have some Russian River on tap at all times and are my favorite go to spots for harder to find stuff.

    Re: Favorite beer of choice?

Was able to snag several bottles of Terrapin Imperial Pumpkin Pie porter last night! It is an extremely limited release with only 10,000 bottles or something like that hitting shelves. Anyway, cracked one last night and it was quite enjoyable. I thought the pumpkin and spices were very subtle, which allowed the base beer to really shine through without being overwhelmed. Not an epic beer by any means, but well worth the $10.99 price tag and I'd encourage anyone that likes pumpkin ales to give it try if you can find it.

Also, picked up a bottle of Blue Mountain Spooky last night. It's a pumpkin ale aged in bourbon barrels with cocoa nibs. I haven't been a fan of Blue Mountain's barrel aging program in the past, but that was several years ago, and hopefully they have improved at this point. Probably the best barrel aged pumpkin ale I've had in Heavy Seas Greater Pumpkin. It's supposed to hit shelves soon in all markets and this is definitely one to be on the lookout for if you like the taste of pumpkin pie chased down with a bottle of Makers Mark, lol.

    Enjoy,
    Scott

    Enjoy,
    Scott
Had Spooky the other night. I enjoyed it a lot. I bought two bottles because I was forced to split the first one and drink it with gourmet cupcakes I'll have a better idea of how I feel about it when I drink the second one by itself.
