My guess is Boyd was busy w his movie and the like and couldn't be bothered to practice let alone maybe think of something new
Boyd is disinterested and lazy. He use to bring the house down
Now he mostly sits in the "ready" position and watches the world go by. Good for him tho he gets paid the same

I hope Boyd rejoins us. He is a light.

    My guess is he wont

I'm listening to LIOG from 6/5/12. I'm nearly falling asleep at my desk listening to his solo. Wow, I love it. Very quiet, then builds up over time with the band supporting him. I'm really hoping Boyd will shine this summer, as well as on the new record!

    Re: Boyd Tinsley Appreciation Thread...

I love Boyd, so I don't want anybody getting the idea that I'm posting this to make fun of him. I'm simply citing a recent example of what I call "sad Boyd", where he zones out for a minute and misses his cue. It's great to watch Dave try to get Boyd's attention by dancing to the beat of what Boyd should be playing. He must've had his eyes closed.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YT0xl...ilpage#t=6715s

Edit: And when they start into the next riff, Boyd raises his violin like, "Oh, wait, do I play now- oh.."

Crazy Easy on the new WH disc: His awesome intro violin "riff" and fills throughout the song are perfect! I love this song, mainly because of Boyd.

Just wanted to say, I got to meet Boyd on Monday night at his Faces in the Mirror event, and he was SO nice to everyone. Really genuine, friendly, and warm. And this might have been said already, but Lillywhite is responsible for bringing him back to the acoustic violin.

This is a pretty good change from the "Bow Drops" thread.

He was pretty good in early 2013:
    http://youtu.be/j9zqXiF30aw

Hopefully with his surgery, he'll sound like his old self again. He tweeted his hand is good as new, and he didn't have any problems during rehearsal yesterday.

I know the likelihood of this is really low, but I wouldn't mind if Boyd sat during the acoustic section. Not sat out, but actually sat down.

I could see Dave having a stool. Who knows.

I wonder if Boyd will use his acoustic violin the whole show, or if he will switch back to that funky shaped black Zeta violin during the electric set...

He's been using the acoustic throughout 2012 and 2013, I'm not sure the switch back would make sense.

Crowd sang happy birthday to BT last night when he joined for the acoustic portion. As I suspected he was seated for it and sounded quite good.

Is it common for Boyd to smoke on stage?
I saw him puffing on something in the acoustic set at Tulsa.

There has been a bunch of vids of him puffing on what appears to be an ecig or vape. I think the last one I saw was from the Gorge 2011.

Listening to 6/12/09 and 6/13/09 at work today. Boyd is really clear on these tapes and can be heard on every song. He sounds really good. I seem to remember people noticing a difference in his playing in the spring of 09. He wasn't moving around as much and wasn't doing his signature leg kicks or sawing away at the end of the stage. A lot of people thought he was not the same because of Roi. Whatever it was, judging from these tapes he was more focused and way more into the music, AND you could actually hear him. He doesn't miss a single note on Crush from 6/12, but listen to a version now and he's all over the place. I guess I forgot how prevelant he still was in 09. It was really 2010 when he started dropping in the mix and losing his way. I hope 2015 is a big year for Boyd and we get more of the older Boyd back. Seems like he's come back a little bit each year starting in 2013.

I don't want to jinx anything, and maybe I could be jumping the gun, but is Boyd Tinsley back from his adventure in Narnia??? Are he and Mr. Tumnus finished with galloping through the woods and smoking rare Narnian herbs??? Every show since Charlottesville he has been getting louder and louder in the mix, and he sounds great. I listened to quite a few songs on Periscope last night and he was present on every song. He killed it on Break Free. I was in shock to hear him ADDED to an older tune. Usually it's the opposite. It's amazing how much better this band sounds when Boyd is playing well and actually audible. Dare I say they actually sound like Dave Matthews Band?!?!?! I hope this trend sticks, and if so, welcome back, Boyd!

It sounded great. So psyched to hear a tape of that. Periscope isn't really great to watch, but it's nice to have my phone out and at least listen. The audio can be pretty decent sometimes. If Boyd is audible on Periscope, then the tape must sound great!
