Returning to the band after a while away

OK, so I pretty much stopped paying attention to DMB after Stand Up. My last show was in '05, and I haven't bothered to listen to the last two albums (I'm listening to Big Whiskey right now, and it's... OK). Anyway, I recently went through all of my old CDs and put a bunch of stuff onto my hard drive so I could free up some space, and in the process I discovered that I still really love DMB. I've been listening to them non-stop for a couple of weeks now, but the most recent thing I own is A Weekend On The Rocks.

So, here's what I'm asking you guys for: I'd like to see what the band has been up to for the last 9 years, so I'd like to get some suggestions from you for albums to check out. For now I'm looking for official live albums, LT releases, etc. I'm not ready to dive back into torrents and stuff like that yet.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, that one was definitely on my list. That day was the last time I listened to them before a few weeks ago.

Not a chance. Note even close. Spac 08 was better. Atlantic City is as well, as well as Alpine 12, Camden 13 and several others as well.

Absolutely not. I was at SPAC 08, ACn3 ,and SPAC 09 n2. Hands down, spac 09 was better. I've listened to Alpine '12 enough times. Have not heard Camden '13 (either night) that many times but I can say, truthfully, that I do not enjoy it as much as any of the other 3 I mentioned. SPAC 09 N2 is the best show in the last 8 years. front to back, top to bottom, the only flaw is when Carter screws up during The Stone (and somehow makes a terrffic song better in doing so).

Agreed. Honestly just mind gapped how great that show was. Got phenomenal seats from the box office just hours before show time too!

While I understand it must have been great to attend, this show has 8 songs off of BW. That is an automatic elimination from best show discussion.

It was an amazing night because surprises were coming out every few songs but it's not best post 06... Alpine 12, Camden 13, Atlantic city are better

    Shake Me
    Dive In
    Jimi Thing
    You & Me
    Time Bomb

All played at SPAC N2 09. Yeah, they were new, blah blah blah. Doesn't make them suck any less.

Hartford N1 13, Camden N2 13, Alpine N1&2 12, Berkeley 08, and Deer Creek 06 are all really great shows to listen to OP.

Yeah, that was a laughable assertion. 6.21.08 beats it alone, not to mention some '10's and '13's

I'm sorry you feel that way. To me, the name of the album a song is on has no bearing on how much I like the song, or if it sounds good live. Irrelevant, to me.

Atlantic City is a good one to listen to, it's recent and a good indication of the DMB 3.0 sound.

Dannyyankou's post is great. That's a lot of excellent music to listen to right there. If you like D&T, I'd also add in the Boone 2003 DMBLive.

P.S. (Live Trax 23 and 24 were both D&T releases and each are phenomenal in their own way. Highly recommended!)

I hadn't seen that you wanted to stick to live/official releases last night. Piedmont park is a pretty good option. Some real good performances of Dreaming Tree, SMTS>ASTB>TM, OSW, Happy Birthday to :LeRoi, one of the better Cornbreads, Melissa with Gregg Allman... It's a fun listen.

SPAC 09 N2 is the best show in the last 8 years. front to back, top to bottom, the only flaw is when Carter screws up during The Stone (and somehow makes a terrffic song better in doing so).
I was at both spac '09, atlantic city

    and AC is much better.

    pitt '09 is better.

    camden '13 is the best

Back on topic. OP you've got to get live trax 20 and 30 and for a good current show pick up live in Atlantic city.

Probably due to his voice going out, haha. That was a great weekend.

Just to add to this, LIOG from 5/26/12 and Bartender from 6/14/08 are worth checking out also.

No, it was the gaze skyward as he began, and the slow, deliberate way he played it. Still chokes me up from time to time.
