Watch Tower - Ware House Encore Alpine 2013??

Alpine Valley: arguably the best stop on tour.

2012 tour N1 & N2: arguably the best sequential show set of all time

Alpine 2013 Encore: Anybody want to hear a Watch Tower into Warehouse finale??

I believe this to be the holy grail of encore's and can't think of a better venue to see it done at than Alpine Valley. Anybody else think this would be a mind blowing experience?

Ok that was a bit trollish. But you gotta laugh at the fascination with Thank You at Alpine. I've been to Alpine and enjoyed it. Great crowd, fun tailgating, typically great sets. The only thing I wouldn't agree with popular alpiners opinion is that it's picturesque

I think for a midwest venue it's quite picturesque. That's as close as you get to "mountains" in this part of the country.

But certainly not on the same level as a Gorge or a Red Rocks. The view once you're actually inside, standing on top of the hill is gorgeous, IMO. But the entire landscape is definitely nothing special, just a bunch of grass lots with some intermittent tree lines surrounded by miles of cornfields in the middle of farm country.

As for the whole Thank You thing, I honestly go either way on it. I don't want to hear it in my sets, but I don't have a problem with them closing the show with it there as long as it isn't the only encore song after the E1 Dave solo. What happened there in 2008 with that song was completely unlike anything I have ever experienced at a show before, DMB or otherwise. For that reason I won't complain about them tossing it on the end of the show as long as it doesn't screw me out of seeing another song.

Back to the topic, I'm not sure this is thread worthy.

I thought N2 in 2009 was a very good show. (Not 'best of tour' great, but very good.) Unfortunately most people remember that year there more for the amazingly underwhelming N1 set though. I honestly don't remember ever being more disappointed after a DMB show than that one.

2010 N2 I thought was very good as well with tour debuts of OSW, Say Goodbye, DIDO, and IBYU. And only 4 Big Whiskey tunes.

But for sure the weekends in semi-recent memory there that were true "OMGzzz Alpinez" were definitely '08 and '12.

I don't think anyone "cares" about the hills, but they make for a very nice view when you enter the venue at the top of the hill.

I went in 2010. I wasn't blown away by those shows though they were still pretty good. 2012 and 2008 were great years though.

Any of you at AC Caravan? When everyone was singing thank you in unison while walking out of the venue after the show? We completely flooded the streets while singing Thank You, the police stood by and took pictures because we took over the town....literally.

That is what happened in 2008 at Alpine, a vast majority of the crowd stayed in the venue for roughly half an hour after the band left the stage and were still singing the song. Eventually security started having to move people out and they still continued to sing up the hill.

Awesome!! Yeah that was one of my best memories from Atlantic City Caravan, they had to close the streets down because there were 80 thousand DMB fans in the streets singing. Pretty awesome sight to see. The police were all taking pictures with their cell phones ..what they must have thought of us DMB fans lol.
