I think for a midwest venue it's quite picturesque. That's as close as you get to "mountains" in this part of the country.
But certainly not on the same level as a Gorge or a Red Rocks. The view once you're actually inside, standing on top of the hill is gorgeous, IMO. But the entire landscape is definitely nothing special, just a bunch of grass lots with some intermittent tree lines surrounded by miles of cornfields in the middle of farm country.
As for the whole Thank You thing, I honestly go either way on it. I don't want to hear it in my sets, but I don't have a problem with them closing the show with it there as long as it isn't the only encore song after the E1 Dave solo. What happened there in 2008 with that song was completely unlike anything I have ever experienced at a show before, DMB or otherwise. For that reason I won't complain about them tossing it on the end of the show as long as it doesn't screw me out of seeing another song.
Back to the topic, I'm not sure this is thread worthy.
