Re: Best James Bond Movie?

Goldeneye was far and away the best Brosnan film; in fact, it was his only good one. That being said, it's nowhere close to being the best Bond.

    Re: Best James Bond Movie?

I thought Moonraker was Moore's weakpoint and tied for the worst Bond flick overall with Die Another Day, but Moore bounced back totally with For Your Eyes Only which I think is his best along with Live and Let Die. He should have passed on the torch after Octopussy, A View to a Kill was a good Bond movie but Moore was already in his 60's and you could see it. He actually wanted to do another one, but Cubby knew he wouldn't have looked the part anymore by the time another one would shoot in 1987 and thus allowed him the opportunity to give up the role himself, or be let go.

I think Dalton's two movies are highly underrated as Bond flicks, Licence to Kill is excellent.

My personal favourites are Casino Royale, GoldenEye, Thunderball and For Your Eyes Only. Quantum of Solace was a huge disappointment because of the camera work...Bond movies shouldn't look like Bourne movies...and Bourne movies shouldn't look like Blair Witch. Bourne movies should have never let Greengrass take over from Doug Liman in the director's chair, and Casino Royale's Martin Campbell should totally have had the helm for QoS.

Sorry, I'd like to rephrase. I don't think Moonraker was Moore's weakpoint, but rather the Bond franchise's weakpoint - Moore still gave it his all.

Agreed about Martin Campbell. I also agree that Dalton is highly underrated as a Bond but his films were forgettable. They weren't downright terrible like the last two Brosnans (TWINN and DAD) but they didn't stand out.

Moonraker was fun to watch as a kid but I can't take it seriously anymore. For Your Eyes Only is decent, I think it lags a little though at points. Octopussy seemed like it never went anywhere, it wasn't an attention-grabber. And the only thing memorable about A View To A Kill was that it had arguably the best theme song (though I think you have to give that honor to Live and Let Die).

I used to think that, until I saw the pile of crap that was Die Another Day. They really shit the bed with that one.

Die Another Day was probably the worst overall Bond movie. Between the insanely ridiculous villain, the invisible car, and Halle Berry's AWFUL performance it was just a POS movie.

Each Brosnan movie was worse than the last.

I enjoyed the first 90 minutes of Die Another Day...it had the potential to be substantially better than TWINN...but it was the last 30 minutes that killed it. The opening was really well done and I even liked the theme song. If you watch Pierce surfing the tsunami back onto the ice there is a split second where he looks off camera almost as if to say "you've got to be bloody joking me"

Walken's performance was definitely memorable, but yes it was a good theme song. I actually think most of the theme songs were excellent, with Live and Let Die taking the cake but For Your Eyes Only is pretty close behind for me, awesome job by a 19 year old Sheena Easton.

My least favourite themes are Tomorrow Never Dies, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Octopussy.

I'll grant you Christopher Walken, he never fails to be entertaining. And yes, the QoS theme song is the worst in the series.

Really? I like what Sheryl Crow did with it. It sounded like a classic Bond theme.

Goldeneye by far. I really loved pierce as bond, and this was the only good one with him. Also I am a huge fan of the n64 game. It paved the way for first person shooters.

That's because if you back read 4 posts you will see that that is what the post mentions.

Also, I got a feeling that a majority of the people who have said Goldeneye have never actually seen a pre-Brosnan Bond film. I'd be willing to put money on it actually

I've seen every Bond movie sans the most recent one. I voted GoldenEye.

Brosnan was the best Bond. Sorry Connery.
