Re: Minnesota Vikings

I saw a quote from Mike Zimmer where he called Manziel's pro day a "sideshow"

Makes me think they might not draft him if he's available, or at least not try to trade up to get him.

I generally agree with you on the first third of the season. If we can get to a 6-3 or 5-4 record, those 2 games against Chicago and Green Bay will be huge.

    Re: Minnesota Vikings

I do wish they had taken Gilbert at 8 and put another solid CB on the field. With the number of defensive backs that went in the first round, it tells you this guy being the first chosen means something. But, if Zimmer getting his guy Barr pays off like a Demarcus Ware, I'm ok with it. He turned an undrafted guy in to the league's leading tackler in Cinci (Burfict), so he must have some kind of eye the rest of us don't.

I do like the Bridgwater over Manziel pick. The fact Bridgwater is humble and coachable, that puts the team in a better situation to be patient with him and allow him to succeed. JFF is going to get knocked around in Cleveland, kind of like a prision initiation by all the defensive players in the league who feels he's a smug little bitch.

Despite the Rams being a terrible football team, this game was really nice to see. It was an absolute must-win if we're to do anything this season.

I have never enjoyed Dick Stockton. I never thought he was a very good announcer, now he is getting old and the game is too fast for him.

Fox needs to let him go.

I suppose next week's game will be on CBS since anytime the Vikes play an AFC opponent at home it's on that network. Is there a reason for that?

i assume that it is a "spread the wealth" type deal in the broadcast contracts. since a given nfc team will only play a given afc team once every four years (regular season, anyway), by having the away team dictate the network the game airs on, the away market will get a chance to see a team they may not get to watch very often.

I suppose we won't know the commentating crew until we tune in. Given it's the Pats, I'd guess it would be one of CBS' top tier groupings? I hardly ever watch CBS to know who is good and who sucks.

If you follow that website they release coverage maps and announcing crews every Wednesday.

Its a pretty cool website actually.

Ian Eagle is good. So is Spero Dedes. The old standbys Greg Gumble, Kevin Harlan and of course Jim Nantz.
