Re: Bruce Springsteen Appreciation Thread

It's great watching Bruce bark out to Max to keep it going, he runs to the side, throws his guitar, his guy throws him another one back, then BAM, another song.

Driving down a country/mountain road, blasting Born to Run and singing along is so liberating.

Seen him twice and loved it each time. I'm a huge Springsteen fan, so I can't wait for the next tour. 100% will be there whenever it is.

I love playing Gears of War 2, because there's a level on it called "River" and any time the map comes up I start singing "The River".

    Yes. Here you go.

    http://btxmp3index.freeforums.org/index.php

I downloaded the show from New Year's Eve in 1974 from the Tower Theater in Philly. It's unbelievable. Sound quality isn't great, but considering it was made in the mid 70s I'll take it.

Looking at that website, it's actually the Ed Sciaky tape (former WMGK DJ). During Detroit Medley they did the NYE countdown by bringing a guy up on stage. Apparently it was also the last Does This Bus Stop until 1993 and the last Mountain of Love they ever did. Both are fantastic versions.

Darkness on the Edge of Town has always been my favorite. Magic is close behind, in second place. The Rising will always hold a special place for me as well, because that is the album/tour that got me hooked.

My favorite is The Wild, The Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle, followed closely by Born to Run. Then I'd say Darkness, then The River, then Greetings, but honestly, his first 5 albums just go as a set for me. It amazes me I got to see 4 of them played live in full last fall. Just need to see Darkness cause I haven't seen Streets to Fire live yet, thats all that's left off his first 5 albums for me to see.

The Ghost of Tom Joad is one of the darkest albums i've ever heard, but I really like it, my favourite album is actually Greetings From Asbury Park NJ.

I'm not positive, think they have to be converted, but I can't remember. All the shows I have I believe are mp3 format on my iPod.

Had to come out of lurking to give love to the Boss. The Live @ Hammersmith Odeon DVD is pretty much my favorite thing in the world.

For shows to download, the Milwaukee Bomb Scare show (10/2/1975) is pretty cool. Halfway through the show, everyone had to evacuate the theatre, so Bruce and the boys went across the street to some bar, and when they came back, Bruce was super "loose." So the first half of the show is ehh (and the recording isn't great), but the second half is so much fun.

this is why Milwaukee is such an amazing place to see them. There is a rich history between the band and Milwaukee.

from a pretty good source on BTX:

"the plan is for the tour to start in the spring of 2011, there will be a new album out to go along with it. I havnt heard a ton about the new album except that some of it might have a country-ish feel to it, but who knows what that means. Also, all the songs arent going to be songs that were written very recently. It will have some stuff that was left off other albums. Which songs and which albums I havent heard yet. So unless something unforseen happens, it looks like we will have an ESB tour in a few months!"

Bruce Springsteen deserves the accolades he gets. He's been putting solid material out for over thirty years, from Blinded by the Light to Devils and Dust. Thunder Road is an amazing song.
