Re: ***Official Bend, OR August 26th, 2014 Thread***
Hope I can help with a little town and venue info. 12 yr Bend resident and have been to 30+ DMB shows, but none since 06.
The Les Schwab Amphitheatre is a fun place to see a show. Definitely small as indicated (8k seems about right). Usually shows are just GA but the "bigger" shows can have some small reserve seating front and center. Due to size, no real bad seats. Acoustics are so-so. Great place to see a show though as the Deschutes River runs along and behind the venue and stage. Many Bendites float the river on air mattresses and listen to concerts on the river for free. Lots of restaurants across the river where you can sit and listen to shows while eating and drinking. Can't see the show from any of the free spots however.
Should be an epic show. Other bigger acts to play the venue in years past have included Jack Johnson, Coldplay, STP, and lots of older acts like mellencamp, Dylan, willie Nelson. IMO this is by far the biggest show ever in this venue. Will be cool to see them in OR at a small venue.
Awesome town of about 85k ppl. There are 15 microbreweries and growing. Tons of awesome hiking, mountain biking, golf and fishing in the area. Not really a tailgate scene but there are a million cool spots within walking distance to grab some great brews prior to shows. In the shows, they sometimes do a beer garden but a lot of times let you bring beers back to your seats. Even if they do a beer garden you can still see the show from it.
Hope this is helpful. Can't believe this show is actually happening! See you in Bend. Do yourself a favor and if you're traveling to this show give yourself a couple days to hang out in Bend, you won't regret it.
