the scene between mike and the undertaker was my favorite of the entire series. I have to wonder, though, if the original plan was for some other jamoke from KC to end up offing Mike. The way that the scene is shot, in that you clearly see Mike's reflection in the mirror, by himself, framed alone--and then cut to the undertaker stepping onto the elevator, and the reflection off the other side of the elevator shows hundreds, thousands, millions, an infinite number of undertakers. throw in the fact that the lyrics of the song playing ("o death") refer specifically for the narrator to be spared death for today, saying nothing of a permanent reprieve, made me think that no matter what happened between mike and the undertaker specifically on that day, some other guy from KC was going to kill mike because the corporation wanted him dead, and once the corporation wants you dead, you die. sheer numbers. so it seems to foreshadow something that doesn't happen. either that, or it's meant to play up the surprise of mike doing what he does, which is fine too.

I was completely fine with the alien stuff. a great metaphor for the role that God plays not only in sleepy towns (every town really) but in storytelling in general.

I was much more upset about the character motivation issues with Hanzee. from the moment he goes rogue it's completely out of nowhere, and the viewer has no idea what the hell he's even doing this for. then they bring in a supposedly omniscient narrator and even he throws his hands up and says "I dunno man it's wild, this dude just went crazy!"

but then it's tied up very nicely in the finale, thank goodness. he was as greedy and power hungry as everyone else.
I always thought that he decided to go rogue right after that conversation with Bear on the porch. When Bear told him, "Just always be straight with us"

IMO that was his motivation when he realized he would never be considered part of the family.

Dodd calling him a half-breed probably didn't help either.

This and yes the anger against Dodd seemed to build.

I didn't think much of it other than he knew he has the power to do it, why not take advantage. Especially when you feel mistreated or whatever.

Also, Dodd's facial expressions and mannerisms killed me. The whole episode of him tied up in the cabin had me dying.

Re: Fargo (New FX TV series)

Just finished Season 2 and I absolutely loved it. The whole thing was fantastic, but those final slew of episodes took it to another level of greatness. With that being said, I wouldn't say I necessarily preferred it to Season 1. I think both seasons are among the pinnacle of phenomenal television, but so different from one another that they are hard to compare.

What I do feel comfortable in saying is that Fargo, both seasons, is by far the best thing on television since Breaking Bad ended.

I finished season 2 the other week and thought it was fantastic. I'm not sure if it's quite on the level as season 1, but it's still incredible. like others have said, I don't know if the 2 seasons are comparable because they truly are so different, but both great in their own ways. If I had to pick I'd probably say I enjoyed season 1 a bit more but that's just because I love Billy Bob as a villain and Martin Freeman. Casting in season 2 was great though too, and I'm so excited to hear Ewan McGregor is going to be in season 3.

Between her and McGregor, this may already be my favorite season.
