Their new, free, iPad-made album is up. "The Fall," anyone check it out yet?

I've done one listen-through; given that it was written and recorded in one month and entirely on an iPad, it is understandably a lil more lo-fi/minimal than Plastic Beach, but its definitely worth a listen.

Love this band. Plastic Beach gets better with each listen. Listened to the whole thing for the first time in a while the other day and was blown away again. Such a weird, yet perfect flowing album.

    Fuck yes.

Hillbilly Man is one of my favorites. Superfast Jellyfish is my favorite track off of Plastic Beach. Slow Country just has that perfect vibe to it. I could go all day about these guys.

Mr. Tembo is on his way up the hill
With only this song to tell you how he feels
But to get there he will need a helping hand
It's where he is now but it wasn't what he planned
It's where he is now but it wasn't what he planned

    Such a catchy tune.

Massive letdown. Ironically I just was listening to Gorillaz (the album) on my way into work this morning and this song... compared to most any song on that album... yikes.

Folks are being kind of basic, I think. Not supposed to be a Feel Good Inc. or Melancholy Hill. Albarn and Co. were clearly not trying to make a hit single, so they certainly didn't fail in that respect. I regard this, more than anything, as a teaser for what's to come in 2017. Also, obviously, a stark criticism of Trump, greed, and an indifferent/distracted society.

Expect a lot of artists, from Thom Yorke to Trent Reznor to Damon Albarn, to be very inspired by Bowie's Blackstar. Sure, these are artists that always dabbled in abstract expressionism, but Bowie's death, to these individuals, would have been devastating. And I think Blackstar gets artists like these thinking about their own legacy, what body of work will they leave behind, etc.

If your only criteria for music is that its catchy and instantly accessible, well, that's terribly limiting and "Hallelujah Money" may not be your thing. But if you like thought-provoking, challenging media that you can really sink your teeth into, I find it pretty fucking worthwhile.

The bassline is nice, but I don't hear a lot to sink my teeth into. There's a nice bassline. Clementine delivers a nice vocal performance. But the concept is kinda ... OK. Yes, that's true. Trump loves money. And?
