exactly my point. And if I remember correctly, we haven't clinched at home in the past two years. I believe one was at CWS and one was at...the Yankees???

k folks we need this to happen to get home field in the first round.

    1) Stay how it is now. Boston can't get home field as a wild card.
    2) Finish ahead of Boston in W-L.

We can't finish behind the West division winner then we'd be 4th and face the Yanks.

The Yankees, no matter how bad they seem to be playing, always seem to be the Twins' achilles heel. Not to mention they tend to be like the Lakers and always kick it up when they know it matters.

I didn't buy them for the last two years, I'm sad to say. I bought my 87 and 91 hankies while in attendance at the 7th game of each World Series. Two best baseball games I ever saw, 87 for it being the first title, 91 for watching Jack Morris and his 11 inning shutout. In 91 we had special press passes and got to spend time in the dugout before the game. Pretty overwhelming for a 7th grader.

True, but do you want to face David Ortiz in Fenway? I don't. It is too bad he has decided he wants to play since going to Boston. It is also too bad for him that he will NEVER advance in the playoffs with Boston. As much as I do not want to face the Yankees again, I would like to just take care of business. All of those pussy White Sox thinking we will be one and done? C'mon.

Now, the AAA team has to win a good strech of games here to improve our chances through the playoffs. We really need to get the #2 seed. Here is the catch - in order for this to happen, NY has to take 2 out of 3 from Boston again, and then we would be within striking distance of the Red Sox. I am not worried about the West - and I din't think we can catch the Yankees with out a collapse, and then Boston would win the division.

Bottom line - it doesn't matter! The Twins are ready to rip up the AL! With our pitching staff throwing the way they are - Bad Brad, Cy Johan & Silva - we will be A OK!!!

    Win Twins

Just a comment about Ortiz. The only place he is any good is Fenway because that field is perfectly suited to his hitting style (opposite field hitting-those doubles off the monster would be fly balls anywhere else and those homeruns would be deep fly outs). I honestly think that if he played anywhere else (like the Twins) he would suck (like he did).

As for the Twins, I don't know. I am also a Yankees fan so this is tough but the Yanks always pound the Twins so hopefully the Twins will play the Sox, beat them and then play the Yanks. I think the Twins pitching has a better chance of stopping Manny and Ortiz than the entire Yanks lineup. Then again, Boston has much better pitching, especially in a short series. It will be tough whoever they play but if Radke is on and Santana pitches like he has been the Twins could beat everyone.

Good points, but I guess when it comes down to it, we are going to have to face both teams to get to the series, so - bring on the post season.

Hey Crumbo - do you actually like the White Sox? I respect everyone's opinion, but when was the last time they won a playoff series, let alone the World Series. Not that the Twins have 25 banners, but we have been on a pretty nice run which doesn't look as thout it will slow down one bit - especially with the White Sox, Tigers & Royals in our division.

    WIN TWINS!!!

Edit: I forgot that the soon-to-be announced AL CY Young winner is throwing tonight. It would rule if he tied Shilling in number of wins, that way there will not be NO WAY he doesn't get it.

It slowed down last night against the Tribe! WOO!

Seriously, though, next year is going to be pretty exciting in the central division, because I think the Indians will have a legitimate chance. Even if it is just the Twins and the Tribe battling for it, it'll be fun. Oh, and the White Sox will be in the race until the month after the All-Star break, when they have their yearly collapse.

You are giving the pale sox way too much credit! They will collapse as soon as their first player is injured. The Tribe has done a good job, and may give the Twins a run, but remember, KC looked good last year...but the Tribe has built up a better stable of players...and they always give the Twins trouble.

Just wanted to say congrats to the Twinkie fans on the division title and say that the play Rivas made on Thursday9/23 to turn two was amazing. I saw it on Baseball tonight and made this face :

    Good Luck in the playoffs!

k folks. We need to stay ahead of the West division leader, which right now is Oakland. If we don't, it's a trip to the Bronx for us. If we do, first round home field advantage against the non-White Sox

why am I concerned. We're losing games that we shouldn't. I know that we've clinched but, I'd like to go into the playoffs winning not losing.

I almost think it better to face NY in the first round. Their pitching is still up in the air, as opposed to facing Martinez and Schilling in 1 & 2 at fenway. I say let Oakland wear the Sox down a little first. But hey, both teams are going to be tough. Either way, the AL playoffs are not a cakewalk.

Screw it, win 'em all now.

Check twinsbaseball.com - they have all players.

Back to business - OK weekend, could have been better - Saturday night sucked - but we came out of the weekend 1 1/2 games ahead of Oak - so as long as the west keeps beating up on each other, we are ok.
What a huge series in New York now that I think about it. They are fighting to keep Boston from winning the division, and we are trying to catch them for home field advantage! Wouldn't home field throuhout the playoff rock?

Alright, day off, rest team - get Johan his 21 win against New York (just like Schilling to prove Johan IS the Cy Young) - and come home to seal up home field advantage!!!

    Win Twins!!!

I'm counting on you Twins to sweep the Yankees. Then the Sox will be ever closer to winning the division...

Sox have to win every single game and
Yanks have to lose every single game.

    Don't let me down, Minnesota.
