Re: Atlanta Braves thread.

Amazingly won last night after Gonzo lost his edge and gave up two straight bombs. Glad to see the team rally after that, as I figured we'd be depressed. Really need to take 2 of 3 in this series to have a realistic chance of being in the race. Amazing to even say that with a team that's under .500. Really think if we can keep it close we'll make a move for a big bat or consistent bat (SS or 2B, or maybe RF) and get rid of one of our starting pitchers (Infante would be my guess once Hudson comes back). We'll see..

Was at the game last night thanks to a friend who got us great seats (between 3rd and home at the top of the lower section) and what a great game to be at. I was at the 2nd Yankees game last week so that was more upsetting.

The pitching on this team is way too good to waste this season. They need to pick up another hitter via trade. Definately can at least compete for a playoffs pot.

Two big wins so far.. glad to see we've won the series. Lets see if we can complete the sweep tonight. Hopefully our hitting will continue. If we can win tonight and then win the series vs. the Nats we're in good shape heading into the break. Keep it up bravos.

We always have trouble with The Nationals, though. I don't even know why, they aren't a good team. But, for some reason we struggle with them. So, hopefully we can keep on this streak and win the series there.

Don't want to jinx the boys but they are doing really good right now. It all seems to coincide with Prado getting the starting job over Johnson. The way the Phils are playing we don't have a shot at the East, but I still like our chances in the division. I still wouldn't mind trying to find that power left fielder. We've got amazing depth as far as pitching goes, so we should be able to make a move there. Keep it bravos.

Yeah, we've gotten ourselves to only 3.5 back in the wild card (which I'm assuming you meant), there's a shot we could do it. It sucks that we've finally put together a winning streak, going 7-3 in our last ten, but we've lost 3 games in the standings. Philly will hit a cold streak, but hopefully it happens when we're still rolling. In terms of dealing, I think we should stand pat; we'll be pleasantly surprised if this year we make the playoffs, then we'll be absolutely stacked for pitching next year with Huddy back, plus Hayward will most likely be up, and maybe Schafer too. Building completely around pitching worked in the 1990's, let's try it again.

Hang onto McClouth, I like him, a lot. Schafer isn't doing too much in AAA, so no rush to bring him back to the league, give him all the time in the world. They are saying Hayward should be up by this time next season which would finally give us some serious power in the OF. If we can move Church to left and platoon with Diaz I think we're looking good next year. I still wish we would bring Barbaro back up, at least to work come in when Kotchman isn't hitting. I know he has no glove whatsoever, but damn can he hit. I don't like looking to next year already though, especially with the pitching staff we have.

And yeah, meant to say wild card.

I don't mean to say look to next year and give up on this one, I just mean that we shouldn't mortgage the future of a great pitching staff that we have by trading one away for a guy who probably won't be around for long. I mean, who is the best hitter available? Matt Holiday? He'll be leaving at the end of the year; I don't see a hitter out there that's such a difference-maker that it's worth trading Vazquez away.

I was supposed to go to that series, but due to a scheduling mistake on my own part (I said I couldn't go to that weekend, so everyone else planned on not going then, so when it turned out I could go that weekend, everyone had already made other plans ), I'm now going to the one the next weekend against the Marlins.

no doubt, being able to keep McCann at the 5 slot. Chipper, Teixeira, McCann...3,4,5 was not a bad run with Mclouth leading off this year and Escobar batting 2nd where he is much more comfortable.

I think he means trading for Teixeira in the first place.

Not to mention a guy who was third in the rotation of a major league club, and a guy who is a top-10 pitching prospect in all of baseball.
