of those ideas listed, lets give each one a rating of 1-10 to see if they are headed in that direction...cuz i dont think they are..itd be nice, but its a new DMB
Dave's acoustic- 4/10..except for Spaceman, You and Me and MBB, his guitar is not
prominent
Tim doing fills- 0/10...Tim dominates the album (im not saying its a bad thing)
Boyd- 3/10...not too noticeable at all
lots of sax- 6/10..i like whats there, but i'd like more..sax and guitar (and violin even) can go back and forth like in Write A Song more..not enough sax imo on the album, but i like whats there
Carter- 10/10..without doubt, his best album since BTCS
lyrics- 7/10 i personally think the lyrics on Shake Me and You and Me are embarrassingly bad (you and me/we could do anything/baby) but the lyrics in a lot of the other songs- Squirm, Time Bomb, MBB- bring the rating up a lot..
while this album is a million times better than ED or SU, its not at all moving in the direction you are describing
