I'm seriously hoping for a Saturday, Sunday show. My fiance and I are getting married in Lake Geneva on the 5th and are scheduling to leave for our honeymoon either that Sunday or Monday. all in the hopes of starting out our new marriage heading to Alpine with a large contingent and continuing the party.

Hopefully this year Lollapalooza won't cause another less than stellar opening act to perform.

Went in 09. The energy is amazing. The band wasn't amazing as they were still jet lagged from Europe the day prior. Amazing place, though!

I am a little as well, sound was awful for where I was on the lawn (unlike years past) and if Warehouse would have replaced shake me, and only one of smooth rider, bayou, or lithog was replaced with dreaming tree (which was on the set) it wouldn't have been that bad. I really don't mind SR or bayou, just don't like LITHOG. Most of it was the sound. I would take that encore of Rapunzel Ants any show!

congrats on getting married! hope it'll work out for you. i haven't been to lolla since pearl jam.. shows, with exception of maybe last year, have all been waaay too pop/mainstream music.. i could only hope for back to the "roots" of lolla to come back!

I remember being upset beforehand because I couldn't make it to N1 because of my cousin's wedding. When the show was over my friend called me and told me about it. He said "it was nothing special, but they did play the stone though." I was bummed about that because it is my favorite song and I still hadn't seen it in concert yet. 2009 was definitely the black mark on an otherwise terrific run of shows at the venue.

Either way, just being at Alpine is so much fun. Dave could just stand there and stare at the crowd for 3 hours while Darter chews gum and Boyd does pushups and it would still be hella good time.

Anybody else thinking a bit about if alpine is indeed July 6-7th, that would be the same identical dates as last year?

Not that the band cares much, but perhaps management would want to move it to another weekend for variations sake? Im really thinking there is no reason for them to do a Friday Saturday alpine this year. July 5th isnt July 4th and putting it on the 5th instead of the 6th isnt going to raise attendance by any means.

I would rather hear Bayou at a show over LITHOG, I cannot stand that song, just long for the sake of being long, does nothing for me

I was kinda pissed when I finally got my first Stone because that time too the audience messed up the outro. If I recall correctly from the show I saw it at, they mostly just kept singing "I can't help falling in love with you" over and over again and skipped the "Wise men say...." part.

N2 2009 is one of my favorite all time shows. Unless you were just referring to N1. That one had it's moments (The Stone!) but was pretty short I recall.

Yeah, I was talking about N1. But that being said, Im not sure how many AV shows you've seen, but I would still contend 2009 was one of the weaker years as a whole, at least in my opinion.

Also keep in mind that I am speaking as far as Alpine standards go. Even a weak Alpine set is still way better than most other shows.

I have been going to Alpine since 2006 but never camped. Thinking of doing that this year, we have an RV and were wondering what locations we could stay at? Can we stay in Alpine for the shows, or do we have to go to some campground?

Hampton Inn in Elk Horn. We stayed there last year too and it worked out really well. Close to the venue and we know shortcuts from there... (last year we were the 6th car in the lot N1...unfortunately it was 100* out so it wasn't worth it) Plus,they allow you to cancel with no fee at least 72 hours in advance, so if the show isn't that weekend, ill cancel no harm no foul... Book it up and tailgate with us!

awesome! i'll definitely look into it! we stayed at the extended stay in waukesha last year and it was relatively close by! thankfully, got into the good lots kudos to talking to people on here a month or so before the show started!
