I guess I underestimate how often people must go to the movies. There's no way I'd pay to see that in a theater.

    Re: Ghostbusters III (2012)

I hope this is the disaster I think it will be. That way, maybe they'll finally just let this go. I grew up the BIGGEST Ghostbuster fan. Had all the toys, the proton pack and trap, never missed the cartoon, my mother made me a suit, I was a Ghostbuster for Halloween for probably 5 years in a row, had both movies memorized line for line. Loved it. I mentioned it a while back, but once we hit the early to mid-2000's I just wanted to see them let this go. I love the first one, and I never had a problem with the second, so that is enough for me. This movie won't taint the two movies I already love, but I hate the idea of another generation growing up on a terrible sense of what Ghostbusters really is.

Part of me thinks they have to be purposefully trying to screw this up. Like who in their right mind thinks of any of this is a good idea at this point?

When they first announced I thought it sounded kinda cool but the more I heard about it and after the trailers this just looks like it was intended to fail.

I would've thought at some point during one of the meetings someone would've stood up and said what the fuck are we doing? Sadly it will still make money

    Re: Ghostbusters III (2012)

yea what especially blew my mind was this guy

    Quote:
Peter Debruge of Variety says the new Ghostbusters "suffers from a disappointingly strong case of déjà vu. While both funnier and scarier than Ivan Reitman’s 1984 original, this otherwise over-familiar remake from Bridesmaids director Paul Feig doesn’t do nearly enough to innovate on what has come before, even going so far as to conjure most of the earlier film’s cast (including Slimer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man) in cameos that undercut the new film’s chemistry."

note the bolded. Unless this guy really sucks at grammar, he's saying that this movie is funnier than the original Ghostbusters.

just let that sink in for a minute I mean I'll grant you, even if the thing winds up not nearly as bad as so many of us were expecting it would be, I feel like I can unequivocally PROMISE you, no fucking way it's funnier. The original Ghostbusters is within the top 20 best comedies of all time, and even that is an extremely conservative statement.

Kevin Smith was talking about it and said the only reference to the original universe he caught was a bust of Harold Ramis somewhere in the film, but no major references and the movie pretty much stands on its own as a reboot.

I thought there were cameos of original cast members? Apparently they aren't playing their original characters?

wait, what? That makes no sense, they were all actually totally open about the fact that the remaining surviving cast (except Rick Moranis) were going to cameo. I knew not as their characters, but just whatever random people. I'm pretty sure there were even a couple pics snagged of when Aykroyd was on the set to do his.

And I found this article that lists what their cameos are:
    http://moviepilot.com/posts/3993027

I dunno why he said that. If you listen to the recent Hollywood Babble On, he talks about it in the very beginning, he mentions the bust of Harol Ramis and says that's the only cameo. Maybe he was too baked to notice them

They were on clearance at Wal Mart too. I thought the same exact thing.

I saw one that looked like he was covered in jizz. I know it was ghost goo but if I was a parent I wouldn't be buying my kid that. Not to mention, Ghostbusters seems a little too scary for most small kids who are buying the toys.

Why would you not buy your kid that toy? It's Ghostbusters and obviously slime. A kid doesn't know about that stuff unless you tell them, so to you it may look that way, but a kid has no idea. I don't know about this movie, but I started watching Ghostbusters when I was probably 4 or 5, like a lot of kids back then, and my parents were pretty strict. Although I read somewhere that this Ghostbusters, which I will not see because it's a terrible idea, is scarier than the originals. But I know if I have kids I will be showing them Ghostbusters as soon as I can. Probably 5-6.

Saw a trailer on FB today and, wow, does it not look funny.

Also, one of the trailers on TV was pretty brutal as well. You know how they'll flash quotes from reviews during the commercials? The one they showed was something like "Girls are funny. Get over it." Such an endorsement!!

It was very good! I'm an 80's child and grew up with the original. This movie is great. The plot was a rework of the original, but the cast was amazing. Can't wait for the sequel to come out! They set it up nicely!

I was also on the "I won't go see this in theatre's" group. Glad I changed my mind. Was totally worth it.
