Re: I Get Taylor Swift Now
I still don't get this girl. She reminds me of that one defendant on Law & Order, who claimed a mental defect defense that she was psychologically unable to accept getting older than 17. Taylor seems mentally stuck in the same place with her songs. She does realize that she's been old enough to buy a beer for two years now, right? If not, that's either kind of (read: really) strange (or just pathetic that her songwriting hasn't developed any level of emotional maturity), and if she does, than she's as disingenuous as I thought she was and is playacting for a bunch of tweens that essentially sign her paychecks, just as much as she play-acts shock at winning 27 awards in a row. Most people look at getting older, especially at that age, as something to look forward to (i.e., the awful teen years are over). Taylor seems like a child star refusing to believe she'll always have acting opportunities as the precocious trouble-making kid, even when she's in her late 30s. Just general impressions from me, anyways.
