Why would you say that? Peter isn't that great of a drummer. I strongly prefer Eric Singer and Eric Carr to him. I enjoyed the band more when those two were a part of it. As for Ace, some of his stuff is alright, but I believe that Bruce Kulick and Vinnie Vincent were more than adequate replacements. I think that's why I like Carnival of Souls so much, it was a Bruce Kulick album basically. He even played bass on a lot of it. KISS doesn't need the 4 original members to be together to be good. Paul & Gene are fine without the other two. However, Gene needs Paul in order to write good songs. Gene's solo stuff sucks, while Paul's latest album was great

& I agree about Hot in the Shade. It's an alright album, but nothing spectacular. You're right about Goin' Blind. That's one of my favorite songs by KISS. Got to Choose is another great song from HTH.

Big fan of KISS here. Bought Dynasty in 1979 on vinyl. I was a whopping 5 years old. Was Paul Stanley that year for Halloween. I guess I am sucker, but I still love their music. Outside of my DMB collection, KISS is second in terms of albums I own by one band/group/artist.

Top 3 KISS albums for me:
1) Destroyer
2) Creatures of the Night
3) ALIVE! I still rock it to Firehouse and Black Diamond.

I lost all respect for KISS when they did their tour with Aerosmith about 5 years ago. I had gone to the previous 3 Aerosmith shows when they were in town and never paid more than $65. The year before they toured with KISS, Aerosmith toured with Kid Rock and the ticket was the afore mentioned $65. Then, KISS joins the bill and the ticket prices jumped to $125. They nearly doubled the price. For two (approaching) washed up 70/80's bands, that was enough. I haven't seen Aerosmith since, and to KISS, I say... Eff you, KISS.

People talk crap about KISS all the time. They weren't the greatest musicians, and they didn't have poetic lyrics. They did write catchy songs that were entertaining however. It was a band where all four members wrote and sang. They never get proper appreciation because of their image and their aggressive marketing.

Unless you were a kid in the late 70's you don't know how big they were.

Kiss is rated exactly correct. They have some catchy songs and a lot of songs that you do not care about. They get extremely limited radio play and only spoken about sparingly (and most the time it is not about their music, but rather, the business savviness of Gene Simmons).

I think that's pretty much right on correct, at best.

What seems in much less dispute is the lack of respect that Gene Simmons has among many other musicians, as there seems to be literally nothing that he wouldn't be lightning fast in trying to license out with the band name to make even one more dollar. seems to have a fairly low bar for integrity.
