    Premiere news!

So, there's the sucky realization that after a great first run of Westworld, we won't be getting anymore until 2018 (and like summer at that), and we already know we're getting Game Of Thrones much later than usual because of the weather shift in production schedule.
so The Leftovers flies in to save the day! Season 3, aka the Final One, will actually be inheriting the usual Thrones position, debuting in April 2017.

Episode count will be 8 instead of 10, and the setting moves once again to Australia. no word on if and how much main cast will be changing, although I'd bet real money at the very least Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, Chris Eccleston, Janel Maloney and Liv Tyler will be back.

wow... I was honestly not even expecting to get another trailer for season 3 (aka the last), and this feels like it lets us in on even more of the plot than we'd ever seen. like Kevin Garvey seems to be being viewed as a Jesus-like figure by some, has having literally come back from the dead not once but twice. But also a lot of folks believe a flood of biblical proportions is going to happen on the 7th anniversary of the Great Departure, and it looks like the start of the season picks up no more than about a month away from the anniversary.

The final line of the trailer... holy shit. I can't wait for this thing. Only 1 month away!!

btw the critics who got advanced copies for season 3, they didn't just get the premiere, they got the first 7 episodes. All they didn't get was the 8th and series finale show. Along with an official note written by Lindelof himself asking not only of course to not share spoilers, but also actually an argument AGAINST the idea of binging.

but see, if you had right now a copy of all the of first 7 episodes, and you could watch the whole run in the next 24 hours if you wanted to, but you still then had to wait the whole time like the rest of us til when the finale airs (should roughly work out to middle of June) would you still want to watch those 7 quickly?

There's no way that final scene is as straight up in meaning as some would believe it to be on the surface. While sure the showrunners were clear in never giving an answer on what the Departure was (& btw, while author Tom Perotta was heavily involved with Lindelof at the start of creating the series, he doesn't appear to really be involved anymore at the writing level), but they're obviously setting up their own separate conceit of "will the world really end on the 7th anniversary?" And there's no way in hell they just spoil that whole concept at the end of the premiere episode.

It's funny but, knowing from all the promo material that the Scott Glenn character was in Australia this season (& that's where much of the season will take place), I wonder how many people were with me in assuming that was him at first in that whole sequence. But showing that as her is definitely laying down a major What The Fuck.
Also I love the tease of cutting away from Kevin wearing the bag. Did he give up? or has he literally been "killing himself" like everyday to see if he can keep coming back.

I never watched Lost, but from what I hear about it, this show appears to be following a similar format of never answering any questions, just adding more and more until you forget caring about the previous/original mysteries. Feels like this show is not going to have a satisfying ending. Nothing is going to tie it all together and its just gonna be one giant WTF. I don't need it all explained to me, but constantly deviating with no answers gets kinda old, and pretty lazy from a writers standpoint.

That ending was a just such a purposeful wtf moment, that fell flat. Because the show is full of them.

I didn't really love them doing a deus ex to get rid of the GR, but I'm also kind of happy the GR aren't a part of the show for the last few episodes

Just finished the 2nd season last night. So is the point of the show that nobody, characters and audience alike, are supposed to know what is going on at all? Like does all this bizarre stuff happen just for the sake of being strange and hard to understand or are there just all kinds of deep religious references that go over my head? I mean even the characters ask all the time why things happen or say they don't know what's going on and just when you think the show will provide an answer, it basically either doesn't explain it at all, makes it even more confusing, or it says we (character and audience alike) already know the answer without providing any further explanation.

I like the show because it forces me to question things deeply, but at the same time it's frustrating that SO MANY things happen that are just difficult to understand. For a while I thought it was just making me feel stupid, but now it feels like nobody is supposed to know what's really going on (much like nobody really knows what is true and what isn't in religion in general).

When the show started the creators outright said we will never know what happened to the people because that's not the point. Maybe that's changed since the show's popularity, but I doubt it.

I assume SOME questions will be answered, but yea, I think the point is how people deal with weird shit going on that they can't explain. Something about if religious things happened in modern times.

yeah I mean, from the basic premise of the show, there was this massive supernatural event that no one understands, but they deal with it in their own ways. other crazy supernatural stuff happening in this world doesn't then seem that out of the question, and again people deal with it

Re: THE LEFTOVERS (new HBO series from Damon Lindelof)

no idea about the first one

if I remember right, ghost patti mentioned molestation and erika's dad did too. john also said "he didn't do anything to me." so I think we're to assume he molested someone close to john (ie erika or the daughter, probably not michael since he hangs out over there and doesn't seem to have a big problem with it)
