I know it was a year and a half ago at this point, but what were your overall thoughts on this show?
Personally...
I wasn't going to catch a show on the final leg but once the set lists started to open up, I knew I had to catch one. I figured Pittsburgh was the perfect opportunity as the last arena show of the tour, the penultimate night of the tour, and the date being 9/11 (The Rising is the album that made me a fanatic). So I drove the 8 hours from Grand Rapids to Pittsburgh.
I've seen Springsteen over 25 times, and I've seen probably over 300 shows. This one was a top 5 show I've ever seen and there's absolutely no doubt about it.
I was misty eyed during "Into the Fire" and straight up bawling my eyes out by the time "You're Missing " was through. Then Mary's Place - a song I normally hate - was the perfect mood transition. Then the Darkness on the Edge of Town audible... from there on it was uber rarity after uber rarity. Lost in the Flood, Kitty's Back, Incident on 57th Streets...songs diehard fans chase for years and they were all in the same show. I got my first Downbound Train...
A truly legendary, inspiring, emotional show. I've accepted that was my last E. Street show and if true, I'm totally fine with it. No better way to go out.
