EOTS is literally one of my favorite albums. I never forget going to best buy in eighth grade and buying that album. I tricked my mother and told her I bought the parental advisdory CD, which I didn't. Of course, this was all done by mistake--I didn't realize until the song "Dumpweed" when Tom said the word fuck.

As much as I don't want to admit it, Blink 182 played a lead role in my growing up in the late 90's early 2000's.

Whenever I randomly hear a song off Take off your pants and jacket, I have to listen to it.

Too many memories have been tied to this band as a youngin.

TOYPAJ was much more emo than EOTS, and therefore, I like Enema much more than Take off your pants and jacket. I like both, but I think the former just blows Pants and Jacket out of the water.

That being said, I fucking love the song "rollercoaster".

pants and jacket isnt the slightest bit "emo". you might not like the songs as much as enema, but its sure as hell isnt emo.

I wouldn't say it was emo, i mean, they kinda started the genre in a way but compared to Blink-182 (the album) its not emo whatsoever... maybe a song here and there (Stay Together for the kids??) but for the most part i wouldn't say it is.

Just from the lyrics it sounds more emo, the music itself changed from EOTS. Of course, I could be completely off and it could be just my opinion, but for me, it just seems more noticeable.

For instance, Reckless Abandon and Online Songs are two songs that the lyrics just seem emo. Time to Break up, also.

yeah s/t is the closest they came to actual emo as we know it now, and i was gonna say Stay together is the only thing on pants and jacket that could be considered emo because of the lyrics. still a good song though, imo but probably my least favorite on the album.

eh the music aint too different from EOTS to TOYPAJ. Its all power chords and open chord riffs.

I guess i can see what you mean, but its just not "emo" really. More emotional lyrics sure, but when you say "emo" its a whole package that has to come with it. Im actually ashamed i know so much about it.

Eh, whatever. It's just my feelings towards their album progression. It just seemed like it an inch closer to emo, and of course their self-untitled album was the cumulative of that. But whatever...Enema is their best overall album, although Buddha is a close second. I fuckin' love Dammit.

YEah, their last album is really just off. I never had the chnace to follow blink182 or DMB because I'm only 19, but simply listening from Buddha --> TOYPAJ, I would not have seen Blink-182 to be an album in they way which it was. They just grew up in a sense, and it wasn't that pretty. That's really why they split up, they just couldn't be what they had been to produce those dope albums.

I actually was set to see Blink in August, but backed out at the last second...the encore to that show? Carsousel--> Travis drum solo--> Dammit. My two favorite blink songs. I was pissed for a week until I realized that they really do suck live so it didn't matter--but still, what a fucking encore.

that is a pretty sick encore... I would have loved to see them back in 2000-2002 when they were on fire, but now as 'grown-ups' it would probably be weird. some of my friends saw them in Hartford and said it was pretty cool, but they weren't fans like I am/was.

Possibly. "Miss You" was definitely emo, Stockhom Syndrome sucked, and "Always" was the closest to a really good song.

I'd say you are. I didn't not like it, but I definitely wish they never made it.

I thought there last album was excellent. I didn't really listen to them closely at all (just radio stuff) until that one. My brother bought it and told me to check it out, and I pretty much scoffed at it for a couple months. But once I listened to it, I really liked it. Still do. I would've never put it and "emo" in the same sentence until I saw these posts. But whatever, I'm not sure I really understand what "emo" is anyway.

In any case, I enjoy their S/T and I like their singles/radio hits from before. I would never call them super progressive or particularly deep, but who cares? I like it.

    This is true.

No matter how kickass Travis is on drums, it won't make up for lack of talent that Tom and Mark could ever provide.
