Totally agree. It can absolutely get annoying, but if a guy 3 seats to my right is filming a song, Im not bent out of shape over it. No reason to be unless it is blocking your view.

has nothing to do with panicking

has to do with with infringement

i rarely take out my phone during concerts and i agree that smart phone screens are annoying at shows so i'm actually on your side when it comes to that

but i would never want anyone to be told that they can't use their phone. that's absurd to me. i just expect it at every show now...times they are a changing. sorry it's not the 70's anymore

I agree to an extent... There shouldn't be some random tech controlling when our phone works. Security should just do a better job of dealing with people who are obnoxiously using theirs to record/take pictures.

Also, maybe it's the optimist in me, but maybe just maybe Apple patented this tech to 'protect' us from it being deployed?

With the bag thing, they let you go to the lobby and get it unlocked and you can check on things if you must. You could probably also post somewhere that you just did that. But when you head back in, back in the bag baby.

Me too. It pisses a lot of people off that I am not attached to my phone, but I'm fine with it.

They could also be patenting this so no other company can...i.e. they could patent it with the intent of keeping it on the shelf.

yes they are, because they fit in your pocket

don't think thousands of people are bringing Sony CyberShots into music venues across the country

The likelihood of you missing a call or text at a concert because your phone is in some fucking bag spikes mightily.

or if someone is bothering you with their phone, you can, you know, politely ask them to oblige you

in my experience, 99% of the time, asking nicely works

This all comes out because some millionaire musicians dont like that someone can watch their concert from periscope or youtube to the next day.

To act like it is affecting their ticket sales is so dumb.

    right?

but dude all you have to do is go out to the "lobby" anytime you want to access YOUR OWN cell phone and then carry around a freaking digital camera if you want any pics or videos

You keep the phone in your possession, the "bag" just kind of locks it.

Yes, that is what you would have to do. Its actually what you are doing when checking/playing on your phone at a concert anyway.

Or, if you are that worried about the person entrusted to watch your kid, or the sick parent, there is an option of not going to the concert in the first place.

bolded: no it's not. i don't have to move an inch or miss a second of the show if i have access to my phone in my pocket...a quick glance down and bam, i'm done....stupid

what a dumb argument to make...the main benefit of a cell phone is to be constantly accessible in case of emergencies or sudden changes

If they wanted to make an app that gives you rewards for "locking" your phone during a concert like they have at movies, I would be for it, but forcing people to put them in a bag is not the way to go about it.

    Right

If they were so worried about people watching shows for free, here's an idea. Stream them! I would pay a fee to watch professionally shot live concerts that don't require that I periodically have to search for who still has battery power and who isn't surrounded by woo girls for their periscope feed.

    There, problem solved.

to make an actual phone call, sure...but you'd have to do the same thing at a concert because of the noise

but people check their texts all the time in movie theaters

annoying? yea, it is. but it still happens and i'm totally fine with it

I cant see this happening with emergencies and such.

Say you have a babysitter, something terrible happens but your phone is in one of those bags and you have no idea until you leave. Just too much risk involved and people never accept being told what to do.

The phones still work in the bags. You just have to leave the theater to get to it. So you'll see (or at least hear) your baby sitter calling. You'll just have to do what you should do anyway and leave before you answer it.

I've really never heard of this bag thing until now so I don't know the ins and outs of it. Are you frisked for your phone so they make sure it goes in the bag? Say a Paris situation goes down (drastic I know just doing a hypo) is everyone just fucked in terms of calling or texting?

From what I read, they are like black cloth bags that dont let you see the screen. So you wouldnt know who is calling, and from experience, when Im at a sporting event or concert, I dont feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. The bag would only make it harder to feel the vibration.
