As an employee of the VA we could 100% use some more employees to help get veterans claims done.

He keeps saying he is going to help vets, then puts in a federal hiring freeze. You know that organization that hires vets and helps vets.

Hence why those jobs are increasing, not decreasing.

It's the same reason why cop and firefighter unions are always exempt from bills that eliminate collective bargaining for public employees.

It's not actually about decreasing the government. It's about shifting where the money goes. Shift it to your base and eliminate it from your opposition. All parties do it. Republicans just somehow have convinced people that they are about smaller government. No, they are for smaller government for their opponents. Big government for them and their supporters.

this is a fair question. I think there are a few things:

- he doesn't trust what the generals say ("I know more about ISIS")
- he's very reactionary in lashing out when anyone criticizes him
- he doesn't understand specifics about the military (not knowing what the nuclear triad is, he doesn't understand why we can't use nukes in europe, etc.)

trump supporters will say all of these are fake news, but I think that's where that thought stems from

Fair points, but the neo conservatives hate him, and the argument could be made they are the real "war mongers". Also as far I know there are few of them in his administration.

Eh, I'm pretty much in the same boat. I hate Trump as a person, but as far as policy and executive orders go he's not been much different than somebody like Jeb Bush would have been.

Neocons may be more "hawkish" but I think Trump's erratic behavior is what pisses them off. They're worried his tough twitter talk and delicate ego will lead to a war even they aren't in support of.

Plus, his comments on torture and going after families/women/children of terrorists would be committing war crimes that even the neocons can't stomach
