Practice and rehearsal

Do you think the band rehearses for tours? U2, Bruce Springsteen, and the Stones usually rehearse for weeks beforehand. I was just wondering what everyone's opinion is.

I used to think they didn't need to because they were playing for 8 months out of every year. But with them playing a little less these days it seems like they would. But with Dave consistently saying how lazy he is at practicing I would imagine that the only practice they do these days is backstage before the show.

The lack of variety in sets is my tell tale sign of this. I mean it doesn't bother me that they have the standards these days, but I wonder if they got together and picked 10 to 20 songs that they wanted to dust off and rehearsed them, if we'd see more variation.

I really enjoyed the 2010 and 2011 sets at the Gorge because of how much variation there was even old songs that I used to not enjoy like "I did it" or "American Baby" were reallly fun surprises.

I'm hoping for lots of surprises this summer. Or just playing AFTW all the way through a lot.

    Re: Practice and rehearsal

I saw some documentary or interview where the band was showing off their new mobile rehearsal unit so they're able to practice on the road. I'd be surprised if they didn't get together a few times before the tour, but I imagine most if the practicing of songs they bust out on the road happens during the tour

Pretty sure you meant Seven instead of LITHOG.... which they rarely play lately. I'd love to see that come back over a lottttt of the songs in rotation.

Funny, this song was clamored for it to go away a year ago....

No one posted the Allen Iverson "practice" speech yet? Consider me disappointed.

fonz has said that they don't typically do anything special to rehearse. just show up and play. but they do arrange things in the "rehearsal room".

Years ago there would be a more structured rehersal, but it seems to be on the fly for a little while now.

By arranging, does Fonz mean they nod their heads while Dave writes the setlist?
