Maybe part of the problem is Canada's lack of decent (large-ish) outdoor amphitheaters? Can anyone tell me which cities would qualify, for that type of summer tour-venue (yes.. Toronto) ... and why the heck doesn't Montreal have one!?

I completely agree with this comment. I think Magnetic Hill would be a great venue and could easily fit the same, if not more, people than the outdoor venues I've been to in New England. It would be great to see them in Atlantic Canada so that I wouldn't have to drive at least 10 hours to see them.

I also have a feeling that the rumours of an earlier tour this spring/summer means that they will add a few more Canadian stops than just Toronto. Fingers crossed.

Doesn't Quebec City have a huge festival in July, also?

Still.. hard to imagine DMB would allow these kinds of festivals to restrict how short a set they play. I am curious how long the set will be at the New Orleans Jazz fest.

I was wondering that also.. plus, it already looks like they may be visiting places they have not been to for awhile, as per already confirmed dates........

Toronto will be all I imagine...they did do Montreal in 09 at Parc Jean Drapeau...but it didn't do well...the venue is cool...they always have big metal festivals there....I remember a few years back they had 40K for Disturbed Iron Maiden and a few others...I would love it if DMB came back there...but I doubt it...

It is frustrating that we have a minimal number of large/decent outdoor ampitheatre type of venues in Canada (none in Montreal? I don't think Drapeau is one?).. other than Toronto, or these big festivals we mentioned, where would DMB play?

Kingswood at Canadas Wonderland holds 15K...that is only 40 minutes from the Molson Amp though.

Year.. Pretty sure I read last year that they stopped holding big shows at that theatre, so I think that one is out of the question.

Magnetic Hill was built for the Pope... I think it would work.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_Hill_Concert_Site

Edit: It's not so much an ampitheatre though.

Yes I heard that the attendance was less than 10 000 in Montreal? I can't really believe that but it's what I heard.

I would love for them to come to the East Coast.. But I really don't know what we would expect for attendance... I mean, I'm not sure people would come over from the US when they have multiple shows in Boston and NY... But it may bring people from all over Atlantic Canada that don't have the time/money to travel to the US. Even thought that it would probably be a standard setlist it would still be awesome! I would be bringing everyone I know to see their first DMB show! But to bring some curiosity from the US, they'd have to do the random 2 day Magnetic Hill Music Fest stand! lol but that's wishful thinking only!

And to bring a larger crowd to the hill, we'd have to get either good supporting acts or a 2 day fest with another headliner...

Thats the thing.. Everyone on the DMB forums are quick to talk about how much DMB hates touring Canada based on attendance numbers from 5, 10 yrs ago, etc .. but surely DMB is smart enough to realize, if they pick the right cities (like Ottawa, being right between Mtl and TOR), they will attract enough people, and even get new fans out of it.

Seems to make good business sense to me..

Yeah I agree. I'm trying to be as optimistic as I can but I'm preparing for another long drive this summer. I guess I'll have to go to SPAC, what a pitty.

Yes, makes complete sense.. The Ottawa Bluesfest would be great! We went to that festival 4 years ago and it was a great week filled with great artists (Iron and Wine, Ben Harper, Xavier Rudd, Joe Cocker, Kiss, etc...) ! We stayed at a campground about 20-30 minutes away from the city, it was cheap and really easy to get in/out of the city because we'd go before rush hour... This would bring a lot of fans without a doubt.

Same here, as much as I would love to see them on the East Coast, I don't completely see it although I'll always wish it. We went to SPAC and Jones Beach last year, but I'm getting tired of the long road trips! lol I'm happy we have some airmiles saved up and maybe go to a special place... also wishing for Red Rocks... but we never know when that'll happen.

For all the Maritimers, my friend found an article from Saint Mary's University about rumored shows for this summer. DMB was mentioned and I have emailed the site to get some more info on where these rumors are coming from. This makes me even more excited for the soon-to-come tour dates.

    Nice! Great post .. thanks
Part of me REALLY wants to believe, before DMB hangs up their instruments (granted, we hope that is not anytime soon, but who knows) that they will do ONE more tour across Canada?

Not like they never have .. so we can keep hoping.

    Will keep fingers crossed
