I'd pay extra if he really caught one, that'd be legit showmanship.

Like others have said, I think DMB's ticket prices are pretty fair given what other artists are charging and while there have been some slight increases, they haven't gone up too terribly much over the years, with the last increase of any significance in '08.

I'm sure my perspective will change if I ever have kids, but for now it's afforable for me.

    Re: Officially priced out?

They are a little pricey (believe me, I'm a college student), but if you want to go you'll pay the price. And in comparison to other bands they're not that bad. Paul McCartney was $150 for 200 level seats. Red Hot Chili Peppers were around $70 for 300 level seats. Van Halen was $80 for top row in the rafters on the complete side of the stage. So really $95 to possibly in the pit is not a bad deal these days for a well known band.

You leave the spouse at home...then the ticket price isn't so bad! My husband likes DMB enough and has come to some shows with me...but on years when $ is really tight, he's fine with staying home and I go with a friend so it only costs us (me) for one ticket. Also, sneaking in a couple airplane bottles of rum and buying a coke inside is a lot cheaper than buying beers.

I'm pretty sure it's $89 on TM with fees, and $87ish from warehouse.

89.90 TM if you choose free shipping.
94.00 WH if you only buy one ticket per series.

I just leave him at home, regardless Cheaper on the Dave fund, and I don't have to worry about him having a good time/wondering why the hell his wife is freaking out over the same song she's heard 30,000 times.

    Re: Officially priced out?

It all depends on the amount of enjoyment you get out of it (as AJC pointed out). For me, it's more than just the show. It's the road trip (to SPAC, or Bethel, or Hartford), it's meeting cool people from the ants board that I never would have met otherwise. It's dancing with complete strangers on the lawn to Typical Situation (Bethel) or Jimi Thing (SPAC). All of that is worth the price to me. Reserved seats seem high, so I only get them for one or two shows and then I do the lawn.

However, other concerts I won't attend anymore because of the high price. Bon Jovi is out for me because I think that $125 is too much to pay to see THEM in concert. However, I would pay that to see Bruce or DMB or Pearl Jam. It comes down to whether or not I feel I am getting value for my dollar. With DMB I am getting OVER value for my dollar, so it is worth every cent.

I just came to post this same subject..

holy fuck! I dont care about the ticket price, im fine with $72, but all the fees ticketmaster add is pathetic, on top of the $72, add 11.65 convenience charge per fucking ticket, a 3.00 facility charge, then another 5.00 to mail it, because printing them at home was way to much a convenience to be included in the convenience charge it has to be seperate, add on that a 4.75 order processing fee and 2 $72 tickets just cost $181.05... It is a very hard pill to swallow when the setlists havent changed much in 3 years..

Now this I agree with 100%. Ticketmaster has been making us grab our ankles for years and it won't stop anytime soon.

why do people not select free shipping? 89.70 per ticket. fees suck but it is what it is.

94.00 per WH ticket if you only got one per series.

    I'm officially priced out.

You're telling me that for my wife and I to go to the show, with parking and a few concessions is going to cost me over $200? That's crazy.

Don't get me wrong, I live comfortably and COULD afford it if I really had to, but I just can't stomach $200 for ANY sort of live event.

    Anyone else feel priced out?

I love DMB as much as everyone else here...been a hardcore fan since I first heard WWYS on the radio 18 years ago...seen them just about every time they've come to Dallas or Austin...but $90 bucks a ticket is just too much to swallow.

(and don't even mention lawn seats -- they're $55 a piece...but we don't smoke nor drink much and I've never had a good experience out there...it's amateur hour for sure).
Feeling your post. I am so OVER the whole lawn experience. It doesn't even sound fun to me in the slightest. I'm willing to pay the money for good seats, but none of my friends are. 90 is a lot of money, for sure. But I haven't seen DMB since Deer Creek 2010, and that was lawn (mainly because my wife thought it was too much money for seats... a decision she later regretted). I vowed that night I would never be on the lawn again.

I feel like since I haven't gone in 3 years, I can treat myself to some good seats. My wife will be 8 months pregnant, and not going, and all my friends are too cheap for anything but lawn. I feel I may be fucked.

you see though this is the part that pisses me off about the band consistently playing Jones Beach in the summer time in NY. the venue doesn't have lawn seats so it's $90 regardless. there is no cheap ticket for that venue, which is garbage. yes i know i could travel to spac or some of the other venues 2-3 hours of driving, but that's the whole point of the band coming to play YOUR town. i'd happily pay cheap to watch from the lawn and actually go with friends but as a 22 year old, most of my friends, if not all, can't afford to throw down $90 for a show but $53 would be totally fine. just a small gripe i guess i have with the venue and the band. i wish they would play somewhere else in NYC rather than jones beach.

i know it's a summer tour and they play out door venues but i kinda just wish they would play somewhere else

Get good seats. Have your friend pay for a lawn seat and buy you a beer at show. Everyone happy. Babies change a lot of things, including free time. While you have it, enjoy it. I have three kids. Just sayin.

Damn right! We'll be having our 2nd child in July (hopefully, unless she comes early). I love spending time with my family, and don't mind the decrease in social activities, as I got all of that out of my system by the time I became a father. But when I do get out, I LIVE IT UP! Makes me appreciate it a lot more. Our son sleeps through the night and for a toddler is pretty self sufficient, so I need to take advantage of this time I have. Because once the baby comes, it's back to up-all-night and all that good stuff!

I do think it's pretty expensive to get yourself to a Dave concert now-a-days but the future wife and I just treat it as our vacations. I'm lucky to have a fiance' that loves dave as much as I do so it makes it a little easier.

Although, I will say that I did feel the band cut us a break on the 3 day Gorge lawn pass for $120. That's not bad for three days of mecca, right? We've never been so SUPER stoked.

Well he knows all about that since I have like 5 different versions each of Billies, LIOG, WH, YMDT, etc. on my playlist mixes. He knows by now not to ask, didn't we just listen to this one?

    what is with this positivity?

no, 120 is too much for 3 dmb shows. over the top, absurd.

Although, I will say that I did feel the band cut us a break on the 3 day Gorge lawn pass for $120. That's not bad for three days of mecca, right? We've never been so SUPER stoked.
Plus, Gorge is one of the best places to have lawn. The terrace area gets you way closer than the lawns of other amphitheaters I have been too. If I make it to Gorge this yr., I would most likely have to do 3 nights of lawn. So I'd be thankful that I would be able to get as close as that lawn can get you.

I'm glad to hear this! We were gunna try for actual reserved seats but figured being in the lawn was part of the experience. Something about the acoustics and way it's setup just makes them sound incredible from the lawn sections. Also, since all were doing is drinking and camping all day what do we care about lounging in the lawn with some of the greatest fans in the world?

let me put it this way...I had seats last year, and didn't even use them. The lawn is where it's at. Especially if you get over there around the time the doors open, and you get one of the terraced spots towards the front.
