Yes, NZ is quite active seismically as well, there are a lot of similarities geologically between Cali and NZ.

You should do it. This ski season hasn't been the best, at least compared to last year. I had a couple friends move from Tahoe a few months ago, and they love going back and forth and getting two ski seasons every year.

I really hope to, maybe in a few years.

Tahoe didn't have the best season this year as well, several heat waves with rain in between the major snowstorms.

This year is supposed to be an El Nino followed by La Nina which should create some heavy precipitation in Northern California this winter. Hopefully making for an epic season!

You felt a 2.5 earthquake? Damn. I've lived in California my whole life. I remember feeling the quake on Oct 17th 1989. I've felt maybe one earthquake since and we've had two or three 4.0s and higher, highest being 4.9 or 5.0. You have animal like senses?

Quake jolts Auburn area

A minor earthquake shook residents near Auburn, Neb., Wednesday night, but officials in the town of more than 3,000 people say they had received no reports of injuries or significant property damage.

The epicenter of the magnitude 3.5 quake was about 2 miles north-northwest of Auburn and 51 miles east-southeast of Lincoln, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake occured at 8:53 p.m.

Cell phone service to parts of the area may have been interrupted by the quake, at least one witness told The World-Herald.

Most of North America east of the Rocky Mountains experiences infrequent earthquakes, according to the USGS. Earthquakes occur on faults within bedrock, usually miles deep.

Quakes east of the Rockies are typically felt over much broader regions, an area as much as ten times larger than a similar quake on the west coast, according to the USGS.

Wednesday's quake could be felt as far away as northwest Missouri, southwest Iowa and throughout much of southeast Nebraska.
