Pittsburgh and vicinity Ants

A friend and fellow Ant’s band Chasing Moira (formerly known as Some Devil) is playing the Hard Rock Café in Pittsburgh this Saturday 5/14 in support of their new CD. They started out doing a DMB tribute but have branched out to originals as well. The show will be half originals and half DMB tunes. Should be a great time at a cool venue. Hope you can all come out and support a fellow Ant.

I was going to make a thread for us Yinzer Ants to talk all things Burgh but this came up in a search.

    I'll start....

Apparently Casey Affleck thinks that anything south of the Mass state line is "southern"

I can't wait to see that movie!

In other Pgh news, I recently found out that the bar I spent most of my mid to late 20s (and met my husband at) closed over the summer. That made me sad.

Pennsyl-Tucky definitely exists. But I disagree that it's southern sounding. The wife I and I just moved to Charlotte and you learn very quickly that anything from PA is decidedly not southern.

I was basically across the street from the saloon so it was the most convenient to stumble home from. I did go to Docs on occassion, too. But, I haven't been there since it was bought by Marios, either.

I think being at the bottom of the Mon is more terrifying... Who knows what's in those waters.

So with Chuck Noll's passing Mark Madden did a poll on his website that assuming there was a Pittsburgh Sports Mt. Rushmore and three of the four spots were locks for Mario, Noll, and Clemente, who would be your choice for the 4th spot.

His final choices were Terry Bradshaw, Mean Joe Greene, Arnold Palmer, and Honus Wagner.

My vote is for Honus Wagner. The guy was the first sports superstar ever; years before Shoeless Joe Jackon, Babe Ruth, and Lou Gehrig. He won 4 NL Pennants and a World Series in which he grossly out performed Ty Cobb. He's part of the BHOF's inaugrual class and his baseball card worth millions.

    What say yinz?

Too many 70s options. A number of them could make a case over each other, especially on defense. Kind of works against Greene.
    Ben's better than Terry.

Sidney Crosby would end up no lower than top 6 Pitt Rushmore, I'd imagine.

EDIT - Chuck Noll/non-players included almost is a game-changer. Probably should add Art in that case.

Was watching BBQ Pitmasters last night, which got me thinking about the Rib Fest at Heinz Field. Looked it up, August 29-September 1. Mark your calendars. Now that dmb is over, something to look forward to. Man those ribs are amazing. The Clarks are that Friday too, for the 1/39480 annual free concerts they typically play.

Those are good ribs, Dude! The Clarks are usually a fun time as long is the price is right (i.e. the price at the rib fest)
