Ohio Stadium would be awesome, but DMB wouldn't come close to filling it. I saw U2 there in 1997, and even though there were 43,000 some people at that concert, it still looked about half full. The record for a football game is 105,000 or something ridiculous.

DMB Crew Stadium 2008 was about half full. Anybody have a Billboard Boxscore attendance figure for that show? I'm not normally a venue snob, but I didn't like that venue at all.

Huntington Park was sold out in 2010 with about 14,000 people. Would make a nice midweek show, but they don't seem to enjoy playing the minor league ballparks, because they stopped doing so. I couldn't make that show due to a work obligation (but made up for it by going to Deer Creek).

Nationwide Arena or Value City Arena would be our best bet of getting a show. Hopefully there is a winter tour this year and we get some attention. I've never seen DMB indoors, so that'd be a different experience. Being on Ohio State's campus, Value City Arena tends to get bands that cater to a younger crowd (Black Keys, Muse, Kings of Leon), while Nationwide Arena is in the heart of the downtown, and gets the older generation's bands (Aerosmith, Rush, etc). Which crowd would be DMB's nowadays??

    Polaris needs to come back.

Blossom has become my favorite venue in the past couple of years. Solid sets and the crowd is always a blast. I camped last year but got stuck in the rain with a leaky tent...probably opting for a hotel this time around lol. Where's everyone staying this year?

I'l like to sneak in one of these shows during a visit to our Niece in Cincinnati, but I already have the last half of July off. Can't swing an early July at Riverbend. Blossom is what, four hours NE?

At most 4 hours. 90% of your journey will be on I-71. We now have a speed limit of 70mph on our interstates in Ohio, so most of the time even if you just go with the flow you can drive 80mph.

glad this show is on a wed because it will give me an excuse NOT to go. have been to several concerts at riverband over the years and folks are right about the lawn. pony up for a pavillion ticket or get there early. it seems there are about a handful of places to sit on lawn with a view....not a bad pavillion seat, unless your extreme right or left (obstructed view seats) don't waste money on VIP parking, we had to wait 30 min to get out last year...if riverdowns is open, park as far east as possible (its a bit of a walk) but you will not have any issues getting out...don't eat at Annie's Roadhouse even though its down the road. NASTY!!!...surprised i haven't seen it on Restuarant Impossible
a side note: Dear DMB, please consider playing great american ballpark in the future!!

The most annoying thing about Polaris closing is that they still haven't done anything with the property. They tore the amphitheater down, but so far it hasn't been "developed" like they said it was. Such a waste. I miss that place terribly. Columbus gets passed over so much now, not just by DMB.

Crew Stadium built a permanent stage at their facility in hopes of taking the amphitheater's place as the premiere outdoor venue for large acts. Other than an annual music festival and the occasional country act, and DMB for the first/last time in 2008, nobody has utilized it. It's a terrible venue.

The only places where bands plays in town is the 2 big arenas, or the LC Pavilion (inside holds 2,000, outside is a little amphitheater that holds 5,000).

Request in for pit at Riverbend. For the first time Riverbenders, DO NOT sit on the lawn. It's the worst view of any amphitheater I've been to

I've never been in the pit at Riverbend but it looks about average compared to everywhere else. Put it as my priority this tour because I always seem to get hosed on pavilion tickets there.

I live and work in the area, such a shame to see.

Rock On the Range at Crew Stadium every year is so bad.

Germain supposedly closed because the rich neighbors complained about the sound and traffic. After that, it supposedly closed because of being on a nature reserve or it was going to becoming a park. Either way, pretty crappy outcome. I like parks but there are already some in the area. Sharon Woods and company.

I remember 20 years ago when that amphitheater was built there was literally NOTHING on Polaris Parkway. It was just a quiet area on the north side of town, surrounded by corn fields. Then the area kind of grew around the amphitheater, and then eventually they pushed the amphitheater out. My God, that traffic was horrible. I can think of 2 times when I was stuck in traffic getting off 71 so bad that I missed the start of DMB's set. Nothing like hearing the band start playing while you're in your fucking car trying to get parked. I eventually figured out a series of back roads and side streets that lead to not having to wait in hardly any traffic. I remember Coldplay delayed their start time a half hour because there were so many people stuck out on the highway.

    Miss that place so much!

I wasn't old enough to drive for a few of the shows I saw there. When I was able to, I don't remember it being that bad. It was worse leaving I thought.
I drive down Cleveland Ave. everyday and traffic still sucks though.

We stayed at the hilton in stow last year and booked again this year. It's across the street from winking lizard, 5 minutes from venue, and Boyd had his after show meet up in our parking lot last year plenty of fans stayed in the hotel last year hoping for the same great experience again this year

Does Cuyohoga allow tailgating and grilling?? Also, anyone know when the lots typically open there? Thanks! With no alpine this year, may be making the trip since it has fantastic acoustics.

At Blossom, Tailgating is technically not allowed, as this is in a state park. However, if you aren't being an idiot, and don't look like you are still in high school, they will generally leave you alone, as far as boozing goes. They drive up and down the lots in marked & unmarked cars, as well as on horses. As long as you aren't causing a scene and are making an effort to be subtle about it, they will usually just keep moving (drinking out of solo cups standing around the car is ok, but don't set up a beer pong table). I'd say no go on the grills. Lots typically open at 4, but follow Blossom on facebook and they will release all the details the day before. All in all, it is a great venue!

The only problem I've ever had with tailgating was when a ranger told us we had to shut off our grill. The venue is in the Cuyahoga Valley National Forrest, and they do not permit flames/grilling.

As for the drinking... don't draw attention to yourself and you won't have a problem.

Blossom and SPAC have the best sound/acoustics of any outdoor venues I've been to, and Blossom is a beautiful venue. So worth the trip if you are putting your Alpine dollars elsewhere.

Signed up for pit tickets the other day for Riverbend. It'll be my 3rd show there and site of my first DMB show just a few years back. No where near as nice as some of the other placed I've been since then, but as long as you get Pavilion I don't think it's that bad. With that said, I signed up for PIT and really hoping I luck up. Signed up for Riverbend and Charlotte PIT. Riverbend was my priority.

I grew up 10 minutes from blossom and then moved to Cinci 8 years ago so I know both pretty well. If you are looking to do some other things besides seeing the show then do riverbend....cinci has way more things to do. A few key points about both places:

Blossom: technically no tailgating but everyone does - just keep it cool. if you get there late or have to park by the street you will have a very long walk to the pavilion area. I think sound is not as good in the lawn as Riverbend.....but you don't have the giant pillars blocking your view. only concern would be sitting high up on the lawn....then the roof slop will get in your way.

Riverbend: no tailgating at all in the main lot. do not park in coney island....horrible getting out. recommend parking in Riverdowns if it is open. take the second kellog ave exit.....exit 71 and come around from the opposite way and park in riverdowns lot on the far east side. you'll have a longer walk but well worth it after the show. i believe you can tailgate there. sound is great everywhere IMO but lawn has obstructed views due to the large pillars. after the show head back to cinci and hit up christian moerlein lager house, yard house, etc on the banks.

I dont see Blossom under the Pre-sale page on the citibank website. Are all venues available for presale with Citibank Card? Or is it only select venues.

Citibank presale is February 3rd, but again, i only see certain venues listed.

    PLEASE HELP!
