Argghh.. I was so hopeful for at least a little more concrete info, Stefan makes it sound like nothing is on a set time line/schedule - could be days, or months - no one knows.

Hereby declaring a temporary suspension of operation:

I wanted to hear the album earlier but I'm kind of excited to hear these songs live first in a way. God, I just can't wait especially with how great Mercy sounds so far.

Didn't back read enough to know if this has been posted or not, but Lillywhite says (via twitter) that there is a song on the new album that is >8min

Thinking we'll get announcement at the beginning of the tour, so another 3 weeks or so.

WHy would they hold it till Fall? IF this is last week, that's stupid to promote a summer tour for an album and not release it. I don't get if you have such a highly anticipated album why you'd let it collect dust?

So that people who bought tickets to the summer tour, will again buy tickets to the fall tour with the expectation of hearing all the new tunes played live. I'm guessing they will only play a few of the songs during the summer.

Yeah, well I mean the albums not completely done from a mastering perspective, but if the production is all finished by this week it doesn't really makes sense to wait till fall.

    I agree.

This recording process sounds like just everyday process. Dave wrote all the songs, the rest of the members came to seattle to lay down their parts, Dave finishes lyrics. How does Stefan not even know the lyrics or finished title of the song. Doesnt sound like a "band album"

For all of those who are impatient, the tour starts in 3+ weeks. They will definitely play at least a few new tunes on tour and we will get to hear them then...so at least we'll have new music shortly.

Does it not though? They wrote this album frickin fast, and it seems the rest of the band is not in the loop. This seems like a Dave solo album with the band.

I'd lean more towards an August release being in that late summer period Stefan was talking about....especially with the time the band has off to promote it, and the Today Show appearance, etc....but with the mixing being pretty much done , and the mastering/pressing after that taking 6-8 weeks max, I don't see why they wouldn't release it in July mid tour....but then again everything they have done so far handling this new album makes no sense to me...so we're par for the course i guess

You're right, I'm not arguing that point, just wanted to use ovaries in a conversation. But if memory serves me right, wasn't this basically how UTTAD and Crash came about? Dave wrote the songs and the band added their parts. I think the difference with Everyday was that the bands parts were basically sheet music when they got to the studio, I don't think they'd be okay with that happening again.

I have a very strong feeling that the album will be released in August. They are on a touring break. There is a rumor that they are playing the Today Show August 17th. It just makes the most sense. I firmly believe that they won't play the Today Show until after the album is released.

They were in Seattle less than a month to complete and entire album and Stefan doesnt even know the names of the songs. The lyrics were not finished by the time the rest of the members left. Also didnt Rashawn Ross say he finished the entire horn section for the album in 1 day? This process is completely different from Big Whiskey or BTCS. I am just saying that this seems like Dave wrote all the songs and just had the band come record their parts.

Everyday the band had their parts written for them by the time they arrived in the studio. If anything this process is more like uttad and crash where dave wrote the ideas for most of the songs over a few years and the band added their magic. BTCS was the first real full band effort because they had to write songs.

    Nice try though

They were working on this in 2011.

dude this is how you write an album... and Tim said in an interview they wrote the songs in 2011, get your shit straight before you prance around with the ignorant negativity

regarding your horn comment - just because they were recorded in one day doesn't mean they were written in one days, that's a ridiculous argument to make

In Uttad and Crash all the songs evolved already cuz they have been playing them live for so long. The band and Dave made those songs what they were on the album. This is completely different than those two albums, much more similar to Everyday.

Sorry brother, but you have no clue what you are talking about. As the poster about you said, Tim did mention in an interview that THEY were writing songs last year. They didn't just show up to the studio blindly and record off of sheet music. Also, the album you are speaking of had a producer that blows fucking nuts. You can't compare this new album and Everyday simply because of the caliber of producer we are now dealing with compared to the other.

o ok, so they should road test these for 3 years then come out with an album with no surprise factor because that's how the first 2 were written, this process is nothing like everyday and you have not elaborated on how it is so. All evidence point to that the whole band was in the studio together for about 6 weeks earlier this year, so that already isn't like everyday. Not to mention god knows what happened in 2011.

You really think btcs was recorded in one take and it sounded like that in the studio? No they all recorded parts individually and the parts where put back together. You're also implying that the band didn't collaborate at all which you have not been able to prove.

This worries me a little too. I wanted everyone there putting in a big group effort. Seems like an everyday/somedevil/stand up kind of recording process. But then again I know nothing about what happened there
