It is. What they did was tore out all of the lower seats, save a few rows towards the middle. Frustrating for a geezer like me who absolutely unequivocally cannot stand general admission pits, at least when they're crowded. I actually haven't been there since they did the reconfiguration in 2008 so it's more of an interest thing for me, but, with all due respect to poster who prefers Sprint Center, I definitely will take an outdoor show in the summer no matter the temperature. I think it's because I grew up there at Sandstone and have tons of memories hanging out with my friends on the lawn in high school. And then in college having a few brews in the parking lot before going in - the same atmosphere just can't be captured with an indoor summer show, even if you are across the street from an entertainment district. (Mostly because it's way more expensive to get a beer at McFadden's then the cooler I packed!)

I definitely agree, I am stoked it is outdoor. I haven't seen DMB at Sandstone and am super excited to! I'll probably be so tired after the show I wouldn't want to go out anyway :P

Confirmed for pit. I also did some snooping around - I think what they're doing for this show is putting folding chairs in the lower section and having a smaller pit rather than the entire lower section. Should be fun either way!

Used Hotwire and scored the Holiday Inn for 83$ (marked down from 145$). If you use it, it's the only Bonner Springs hotel that pops up - and it's a few miles from the venue.

plenty of hotels in the area now. it's similar to deer creek in the manner. when it was built there was absolutely nothing around there - they kind of missed out on their chance to make it a camping destination venue. but man, in the last 15 years it's incredible how much was popped up around there, specifically village west and the speedway. that's really what drove the growth.

and i think it'll be our only show too. i'm trying to talk the wife into europe (UK and Ireland) but I don't think it's gonna happen. Her job is getting in the way and I think she'd rather go south next winter.

Yeah, tix are not moving fast at all. I easily got 4 more pit for our friends.

I'll probably hop on late this afternoon and see if they're still out there. It'd be a shame if pit takes a while to sell out. Then again, maybe people are scared off by the will call only.

Just purchased 2 in Section 5 row Z. looks to be a pretty decent seat, Cant see rows but it looks like they go back to GG in most sections in the lower bowl.

I read on their site, they took out 18 rows to make for a bigger GA section. I'm guessing there will be 1,000 to 2,000 pit tickets sold at this venue. I'm already in line for the rail. Ha.

Heh. I told my brother last week on Monday during the presale to let me know if he wanted pit because "they will sell out (of pit)." I guess I'm stuck in the past. I knew they wouldn't sell out entirely but I figured the pit and all the seats would. I got a feeling this will be their last year here for a while. Either that or they'll fulfill my wish and move to Starlight next time.

It will be there last trip there. I just fished pit tix again fom Ticketmaster. Absolutely sad to have KC peeps contantly complaining about no shows and then this happens.

Makes me said living in KC. I don't think it will even come close to selling out but should fill up/sell more tickets as the show gets closer. Tuesday night probably turning people off too.

Actually, the sunflower fields are in full bloom in August, so you probably won't get to see them at their best. But there are nice spots not far from the venue/where you are staying. Definitely some nice fields closer to Lawrence, which you should come see if you get into town the day before the show. Great bar scene in downtown Lawrence.

Seen lots of shows at this venue, and I would say it's usually a good scene. Tailgating is great; it is KC after all.

heh. or they'll be growing on the side of the highway. basically just hop on a highway in any direction, you're bound to run into them. you'll definitely see them if you're driving up from arkansas.
