Maybe the vinyl will have an extra cut on it (like Death Cab's Plans) or perhaps they're just using a wider groove.

I highly doubt it's the length that's necessitating the album go to 2 LP's.

How do we know it will be released on vinyl? On the page for the free single download, it says CD/DVD, CD, and MP3 available for Pre-order at Amazon and davematthewsband.com. It doesn't say anything about vinyl. Just curious.

Also, I don't see any pre-sale on the DMB site yet... anyone else see it? I only see the Amazon one

RCA Press Release said preorder info on dmb's site will be out later this week. About the preorder, I'm not sure about amazon, but if you preorder through DMB's site and pay for the extra shipping you can get it on June 2nd. A reason not to go to the store and get it is you get Live Trax 15 for free if you get it through DMB's site and if you get the bigger package you get bonus tracks.

Awesome, thank you very much that was really helpful. I'll wait to see it pop up in the DMBstore and preorder there. This is all very exciting.

Because most stores I know don't carry vinyl and if they do there's usually only about 50 LP's available.

Amazon lists the ship date as June 8th, but that's with the FREE shipping. If you pay for expedited you can probably get it June 2nd.

I like Amazon because they do a lot of vinyl - they ship it properly. I wouldn't feel as confident ordering it from Musictoday. Hell even Best Buy can't ship vinyl properly, I got a Police - Certifiable 3LP set shipped in a bubble mailer, corners all mashed to pieces. Cardboard only damnit!!!!!

This is an excellent entry model turntable:

    http://www.project-audio.com/main.ph...tables&lang=en

Rega Planet 3 is great as well, although perhaps a bit more expensive.

If you don't mind shelling out some extra cash for an upgraded pickup than the Ortofon included (which is decent, although there's lots of room for improvement) there's plenty of pickups at all price points. Do a little research.

Also, make sure you have a phono input on your amp . Otherwise you will need a RIAA as well. The pro-ject Tube Box is a good one, although a little expensive. Remember you need two pairs of cables as well if you choose this option (even if you have a phono input, the Tube Box will probably be an upgrade unless you have a significantly expensive integrated amp / preamp).

I haven't heard this turntable, but Music Hall has shown itself to be good stuff, if a bit on the lean side. MH equipment tends to be slightly on the darker side and the clarity could be better, but both the amp and CD player from MH are lots of bang for your buck. But as with any audio equipment, let your ears decide. Go listen to it and then listen to something else in the same price segment and find out what you like.

Amazon is almost always cheaper than buying at a store locally (such as Best Buy). Also - you pay no sales tax with Amazon. (Plus I get free shipping as a Prime member of Amazon).

Excellent points! I've ordered a few vinyls from Amazon - and they are always packaged perfectly!

I've got this turntable. Absolutely love it! Not sure what your price point is though.

Is pessimism a way of life for you? Did you never get invited to birthday parties as a child? Are you one who doesn't see a glass as half empty or half full - but only as a glass that will probably get broken at some point?

Usually Amazon only put pre-orders up when they get a SKU from the record label. I had a bad feeling there would be no vinyl....until the pre-order showed up on Amazon. Don't know why it's not spelled right though.

Depends what your budget is. I'd recommend looking at the $350~$400 range for an entry-level TT.

Rega P1 (comes with Ortofon OM5e)
Goldring GR-1.2 (comes with Goldring Elektra)
Pro-Ject Debut III (comes with Ortofon OM5e)

Of those the Goldring has the best cartridge fitted ($90 retail value) and it is made by Rega with an RB150 tonearm and the same platter/plinth as the Rega P1.

I'd also recommend looking at a phono preamp in the $100~$150 range too, so budget carefully.

if this were true, then DMB is sadly out of touch with listeners today. i dont think this is the case and am very confident that it will be avail on vinyl.

the fact that it is labeled as a 2LP is :thumbdown - unless the 2nd is bonus material. if not, i really hate 2 songs per side. it takes away from the experience of listening to an album.

    Re: BWGK on Vinyl

Well with 13 tracks we'll get 3 songs per side with 4 on one, unless they do it like Jimmy Eat World's "Futures" which had nothing on the 4th side, which for Grux would work out to 4, 4 and 5. Death Cab did that for plans as well, but offered one extra track and put it all alone on the 4th side.

I agree that a single LP would be much better for continuity, but I'm more concerned with just getting the fidelity of the vinyl.

It's a shame the super deluxe package doesn't include the 2LP set.
Check out Pearl Jam's Super Deluxe "Ten" - that's how you do Super Deluxe!!

go to a record store and get a used one. spending what you would on a decent new one nowadays (160- 200) on a good used one will get you twice the turntable. they don't make them like they used to.....

    IMO

can't wait to jam big whiskey on the turntable!

Doby you are definitely the resident turntable expert here. Any thought on a stylus upgrade for an AT-PL120? I've been very happy with the table since I got it, but all the talk about how a nicer cartridge can vastly reduce your surface noise have me hankering for a new one already.
