Good night.
That sounds about right.

Went with the Ommegang Hennepin and damn, this is a great beer. This is the first beer from this brewery I've had and I will definitely try and find some more. I also don't have a ton of experience with belgian beers but can definitely tell this is a great one.

Drinking a Laughing Dog "Dogfather Imperial Stout". It is SUPER YUMMY! Also, 11% abv.

I've had some Ommegang's that I like, but I'm pretty buzzed so the one experience I forewarn you will be a letdown: their Chocolate Indulgence. It's not very chocolatey, it's not very strong, it's actually very low key, yet priced as a high abv, highly complex brew. Try it, but feel bad that you just paid $10.99/22oz.

I've now had Dogfish Head the past three weekends, the 60 min, 90 min and 60 again in that order. After the 90 I thought the 60 was better, but then I had the 60 again and it was very clear how much better the 90 is.

Edmund Fitzgerald Porter is still #1 for me. Amazing. I would also highly recommend Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout. And for all my Canadian friends, Pump House is an excellent brewery. Their current seasonal, chai wheat, is worth driving for.

You can find good beer anywhere in Canada. Unibroue in Quebec makes great beer, as does Pump House in New Brunswick. The Gahan House on Prince Edward Island has some good beer. Propeller in Nova Scotia makes quality stuff as well. I'm sure, being as big a city as it is, there is a ton of stuff in Vancouver and other points out west; most of my experience has come in the Maritimes.

Was in Dekalb, IL yesterday and they had a few breweries that I can't find down in Champaign, IL, two of those being Stone and Great Lakes. Needless to say I picked up a bomber of Ruination IPA and a 6-pack of Edmund Fitzgerald. Edmund Fitzgerald definitely lived up to the hype. I'm not a big fan of porters because many just seem to be lite stouts, but this is a fantastic beer.

But I can't say enough great things about Ruination. Pure grapefruit-hoppy goodness. This is immediately one of my favorite IPAs.

I've never been a fan of IPAs or Stone. I did kind of hit on Stone's brewer when I met him, though. That was a little weird. But it was also after tasting about 70 beers, so he probably should've expected it.

    Re: Favorite beer of choice?

Went on a camping trip this weekend and had a pretty nice range of beers. The highlight of course was a bomber of 2009 Bourbon County Stout (Goose Island) that I split with my buddy, while enjoying a Cuban cigar. I usually like my cigars with a bourbon or scotch, but the BCS will pair well with any stogie, even the darker maduro wrappers. I also sipped on JW Lees Lagavulin Cask Aged Harvest Ale from 2007, Anchor Old Foghorn Barleywine, and Southampton 12. This is the third time I have had Southampton 12, and I am really digging it. Besides maybe Victory 12, there is no other brewery in the US in my opinion that even comes close to making a quad that does as much justice as Southampton. I don't believe that the brewery distributes very far outside of New York, but for anyone living in NY, PA, or MD, I would highly recommend picking up a bomber. Anyways, still have a lot left over from the trip that is now stashed in my fridge, including Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA, Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout, Unibroue Trois Pistoles, Ballast Point Sculpin, and Dogfish Head Midas Touch. Should be set for a couple weeks!

I'm working on my first trade at beeradvocate right now. I'm pretty excited. I'm pretty lucky to live down the street from where Red Racer IPA is brewed, as it seems to be saught after. They have it ranked at the 11th best IPA in the world. That's pretty cool.

currently enjoying a Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout
"Imperial Stout aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for 100 days"
13.5% abv, strong bourbon aroma with a flavor split 50/50 between bourbon and caramel. Quite tasty and very potent... Highly recommended.

I still have two left. It is comically strong.....oversweet for me.

I'm aging one, and the other I'm just letting sit in my fridge.
