Yeah, you definitely need to ration out portion size a bit, especially if you're not a clean eater.
Have you ever tried tracking your calories though? It's amazing how much good/healthy food you can eat and still not pack on that many calories. For example, here's a sample day of what I eat. I'm trying to add muscle while burning off fat. This is the highest number of calories of clean food that I can physically manage to stomach in a day for the most part.

In my opinion, that's quite a bit of food/drink intake. 2570 calories, 200g net carbs, 215g protein, 86g fat. I lift 4 days a week and do cardio for 30 minutes probably 2 times a week. I rarely step on the scale, but I would bet I haven't lost much in terms of numbers, but I've definitely leaned out and put on a bit of muscle. Like I said, this is my absolute highest day recently of eating clean food. Usually I'm around ~2100 for the day.
