Re: Bow Drops

anyone on here who doesnt think this is anything but sad is a. an asshole and b. not a true dmb fan

For the rest of us, get better boyd, this is depressing to watch, boyd is just as important to the unique sound of dmb as roi was

I'm sick of the malicious comments towards boyd, he has been playing better of late and while his absentmindedness is frustrating we should be cheering for him to improve. People forget Roi sucked for a few years, couldnt even keep up with a solo between 05-07, would just blow notes stop, try something new...but he got a pass around here for some reason...if anything we should be hoping for a comeback similar to the one roi had in '08

every single person here feels really bad for Boyd, and wished him a speedy recovery.

So you just sweep all the bullshit and hate spit towards boyd the last few years under a rug because now he's sick...yeh I'm calling people like you out and anyone who went out of their way the last few years to make boyd out to be a terrible musician, a knucklehead yada yada, instead of appreciating him for what he has been to the band.

You have 60k friggin posts and you're going to tell me you were never aware of all the spiteful stuff said about boyd the last half a decade? On this board? Some really nasty stuff? You never saw any of it? Yeh Ok buddy, keep posting.

first off, regardless of his playing and our opinions of his playing, we love boyd. we love what he brings to the the stage for the show. as a showman he is the most colorful up there and the crowd eats it up. we love boyd.

as paying customers we are allowed to voice displeasure if a professional musician isn't playing up to par. it was a legitimate concern that boyd finally addressed. and so we wished him a speedy recovery.

Fine, speak for yourself, and i'll totally agree with you on that, hell I have blasted dave for beign a lazy musician in the past, but if you're going to tell me i'm out of line for calling out all the haters and more importantly all those who are malicious in their thoughts towards boyd then i say to you, screw that...

the negativity on this board has been an issue for years, but theres a difference between tough love and just flat out ignorant comments and if you're gonna tell me there are not people putting their tails between their legs after hearing this news then you sir are delusional...i'm calling those people out

and let' talk a bout "professional musicians" How many people on here blast the incredible Tim Reynolds because he's turned up too loud in the mix (because that's obviously Tim's decision - {sarcasm}) or blast fonze for being a schmuck who talks funny and is immature? (even though imo he's one of the most unique bass players out there) come on man. give me a huge fucking break. I will continue to call those idiots out. O yeh and Jeff Coffin sucks because he doesn't sound like Roi. HAHA

Listening to live trax 29 now, Boyd sounds incredible on Crush. Hope he gets better soon.

^You know that there's a difference between hoping that Boyd makes a fully recovery and forgiving his subpar playing throughout the past few years, right? I haven't seen anyone who's said anything along the lines of the latter...but maybe I missed it?

This guy needs to go back to la familia or #SMuRFVIllage.

vBulletin is typically cynical by nature. Just the way it is.....similar to Reedit...

    I agree w Nick....no one is anti-Boyd....

Something has been going on for a long while - not really a shock....

I never said anything to even hint that I don't like Boyd personally and/or don't think it's a shame that he's got a physical ailment right now.

That being said, and as many have pointed out, he's been really hot and cold for the majority of this bands career. I don't think we can blame spotty playing in 98, 03 or the present as ALL having to with this newly announced arthritis battle.

I hope he bounces back stronger than ever. I love dynamics he brings to his side of the stage, but I'd rather not sacrifice good music because I'm nostalgic about the lineup.

My girlfriend can't believe a DMB fan forum could be so active and full of drama. Most people think of DMB as a band they used to know in the '90s. Shocking to see they still have such an active, and opinionated, fan community.

If we all said the band was fantastic at all times then this place would be incredibly boring.

Differing opinions are what make the world so great

Oh and drama? If you can even call it that via the Internet, then so be it

But it happens because some can't take criticism and instead get very butthurt.

Boyd has sounded rough at times from the beginning of the band until now...he plays the violin and when he's off it's extremely apparent...and when he's on he rocks the fucking house...just the way it is and has been since the inception of DMB

I'm a big Eddie Belfour fan. Always have been. He can't play goal in the NHL anymore but I'm still a Blackhawks fan.

Boyd should write a book unless a doctor clears him saying he'll be able to hold the bow. If not just wait til TMZ or Yahoo runs a story..... If you think this forum is harsh.....

Not positive but my guess would be 2/23/95 because of the harmonica throughout the clip. I checked the almanac and that date is the only version John Popper has guested on Water/Wine and there have been no other harmonica guests.
