Same way the average Metallica fan doesnt care about a 6 disk 45rpm set of S&M on translucent yellow vinyl, they probably dont even know that something like that was made. But I care, and thats why I bought it. And the MetClub has ways for fans with specific interests to let that be known. DMB doesnt have that pathway as readily available, so you improvise. Dont agree? Dont send an email. Dont care? No need to read this thread. I dont drink alcohol in the lots to get pumped up for DMB shows, and I sure as hell dont run around in those threads calling people pathetic for how they enjoy their music. Different strokes and such.

What's absolutely hilarious is that Patrick thinks these vinyl releases are for the "average concert attendee" Yeah, bud. Is that why they've only released 5,500 total between Live Trax 1-3? You know, 1/8th of Alpine Valley? These are released for the people who actually care about them, so voicing an opinion is quite beneficial.

I hope it's not a picture disc. I have Tool's Lateralus picture disc and it is unlistenable. So much hiss. It's not just my copy. Every review I have read says the same thing, and apparently picture discs in general don't sound as good. Anybody else have any experience that says otherwise?

That's what I've heard too. I'm also hoping it is not a picture disc. It's a cool concept but I'd rather listen to my records than look at them.

No, picture discs suck is my experience too. Can't believe AiC's new album still hasn't received a black vinyl pressing yet, brutal to only release a massively slammed DR5 CD or a picture disc 2LP vinyl. Thanks for nowt!

Styx's Paradise Theater is good, though it's a laser etch.

I would have guessed 45rpm for the unique feature. Could be 45rpm colored vinyl for RSD, then a standard 33rpm black pressing for Warehouse.

I work in marketing and part of my requirements is to read and study the field for new ideas, research, etc. I stumbled across a Kiss School of Marketing e-Book (I'm an unashamed Kiss fan and it sounded like an interesting read - love em or hate em they have an established brand and use it well). They have a whole chapter entitled "Listen To Your Fans, You Work For Them." The chapter is as you can imagine about how to treat your fans and hear their ideas because they're paying your bills. Made me think about DMB. Not always the best at giving the fans what they want.

As I eagerly await the revealing of whats to come from DMB for RSD this year, I will venture to make my guess...... Either the Central Park or Live at Red Rocks pressed to colored vinyl at a 45rpm. One of those and a possible Live Trax box set release as they have been well received. Just crossing my fingers for something awesome.... but if its a DMB vinyl, im probably going to buy it regardless.

From what I've heard there will be more than 1 vinyl release in 2014, but not on Record Store Day.
