I'd like to do a half marathon later in the summer, but I don't think there are any good close ones to Boston.

What's the furthest you can go? You could probably do one a lot sooner than you think.

I've gone around 6.5 so far. Could definitely do 7 and want to try 8 soon (I do really try not to force putting up mileage. I like for each new level to feel somewhat normal before upping it).

The thing is, the Boston one that you (and Laura) are doing is during the time when I'll be back in Milwaukee before work starts.

Yeah the timing for that does suck dude, but it's getting closer towards marathon season, there's tons everywhere, just google "marathon calendar" and you'll find a comprehensive list.

If you ever do have a hard time getting your mileage up, try setting a set time instead of miles. This is easier to get you going longer. Also, look into interval training too, I found that helps a lot when you hit a plateau

I know they're not great but it's always fun to have an upset.

Plus I have them beating teams that I would have lose in the next round anyway.

I'm not done with my bracket, though. I'll probably do some mods to it.

I do interval occasionally when I'm on the treadmill. I've never thought about setting time instead of miles. Seems like an interesting idea, but the one problem I could see there is that I simply don't change my pace when running. I don't know how to manage pace and I just run naturally. Not sure if that would change the thought process of time versus miles, but it is something that I've come to realize when looking up training schedules where they say 10k pace+15 sec. or something. I have no clue how to set that.

And yeah, I looked up half marathons and there didn't seem to be any too close to Boston.

I love monster upsets. I remember when Duke was a 1 or 2 seed and got upset by some no name in the first round. I actually called it to and had it picked in my bracket. It was great.

Pretty sure I am. I just can't miss a lot of those bands.

I'm familiar with Elias, Flying Horses, Mission, Hey Hey, The General (obviously) and I've heard others but I can't remember. My brother was big into them when we were in high school.

I do not remember this. No #1 has ever lost in the first round and I can't remember Duke being a #2 and losing in the first round. They came close to losing to Belmont a handful of years back when they were a #2 but they won. They were a #6 and lost to VCU in the first round in like 2006 or something though. That might have been it.

Try interval training outside, it'll probably help you become more aware of your pace, plus it's really good for adding miles too. Going for time is good because if you're having a good day, you'll probably pick up the pace slightly and go further than expected without mentally grinding out those miles. Does that make sense? Sometimes the number can just seem daunting, at least in my experience.

when i run at the gym at school i only go by time. i'm definitely not gonna count the laps around the track (10 laps is a mile)

when i run at home i figure out the distance either before/after, but i don't really pay attention to pace. idk i just run

Yeah, my biggest problem nowadays is either running into the random stomach cramp or mentally convincing myself out of it. Maybe going by time will help, but knowing my crazy head, I'll be calculating the miles according to my pace anyway.

Yeah, the latter is exactly what I do. I just run.

I've only run around our indoor track once. Kinda hated it, but all the machines were full and I wanted to see how fast I could run a mile.

I actually think that my starting to amp up my core workouts is what is causing my cramps and tightness. Probably something that I will get over quickly, but it is the only change I can think that I made recently that correlates with my cramps starting.
