I decided against driving down to Chicago for the big release. Lakefront Brewery is releasing a BBA Imperial Stout(brewery only)that day. Only a 15 min drive for me, much less hassle, and I'm excited to see how the beer turns out. Oh yeah then hit the streets for Bourbon County

Best beer ever? Tough call. From what I've had off the top of my head I'd put King Sue, Assassin, Fou' Foune, and Heady Topper up there. Those beers are perfection, IMO. Sucks as well, Maybe if I were able to haul in 148 BCBCS I might have a chance to compare

    Wow, nice haul!
I haven't had king sue, assassin, or foune yet 😞. I will say with W12, the first bottle I had was fresh from US release. Did head to head with Abt 12 and roch 10. Roch 10 was winner with W12 second. A year later though, W12 was far and away the winner. That year of age made a huge difference. So glad I have 4 bottles left!

Also as a disclaimer, in general I LOVE quads, so that Prob has a lot to do with ranking W12 so high. roch 10 and Achel extra are Prob both in my top 10 as well.

For me it's also about sample size when determining the best beer i've ever had. If i've had just a taste, one time only, then it's hard for me to say it's the best ever because it's such a small sample size. I mean, Bruery Mocha Wednesday, Fou Foune, and others may be up there....but I've not had enough of those beers for me to feel that it's fair for them to qualify as the best i've had. For me the top 5 would probably contain BCBCS, Heady Topper, Head Hunter, Bourbon Vanilla Dark Lord, and CBS. It's hard for me to have BVDL and CBS in that list though because another factor would be availability. Those beers are harder to get than Fou Foune and many others. Figuring out a top 5 is a lot fun though....

Of the beers I've had at least a six-pack of, in no order, would include Zombie Dust, Founders Breakfast Stout, Ballast Point Sculpin, Bell's Two Hearted, Half Acre Daisy Cutter and Cigar City Jai Alai. That's six of my favorite beers that I've had consistently.

I bought a bunch of winter beers today......a devilsbackbone scotch ale..... great divide oatmeal.......a sixer of Duclaws guilty Filthy soul, their imperial chocolate rye porter....and a sixer of DFH nemaste. (was at a beer shop out east of Baltimore).

I just cracked open the Oddside Ales Java Chip Mint Stout that came in my MBB. Love the aroma. LOVE the hint of coffee but most of all the chip mint taste is amazing. Well done "strange brew". Well done!

do you live under a rock?

i believe the Crusher was the second ipa they released in their new truck sales. I think the truck sales started in like January or February. Basically they are doing some small batch beers and just selling them from a truck by the case. First release was an IPA called Focal Banger and a Brett beer called Petit Mutant. They've done a few others....

I wouldn't say they are "branching out". Just doing some small batch stuff.

you can read more about it here: http://alchemistbeer.com/blog/#2925

looks like Petit Mutant also had cherries.

The only beer I've had from these sales has been Beelzebub and I really didn't think it was all that good. But apparently their IPA's in the series have been great.

Basically Narwhal aged in bourbon barrels. Very smooth, and a much better version of a stout that I was never blown away by. BA Narwhal blew me away though.

Drinking the last of a growler of Ommegang Game of Thrones Valar Morghulis special edition...it's pretty good but lighter than other Ommegang beers. Not bad for just over $15, though. Almost makes me want to read/watch GOT. Some day, when I have a straight week or two free, I might.

Holy fuck. How did you score a whole case of those? I thought I lucked out to land a single 750 of BA Narwhal. Any chance you would want to trade a rum barrel Pumking for something unique from the NC beer market (have a few goodies cellared). Never knew ST did a rum barrel Pumking.
