I use the D100 and love it. Is the D80 an upgrade?

When you compare the D40x and the D80 they are very similar. I'm leaning towards the D80 because its a little bigger and I have a tendency to be rough on my gear out in the field.

I also hear that both cameras have a slow auto focus speeds which is a concern. A friend of mine has the D70x and he upgraded to the D80 and he uses the D70x more than the D80.

I'm don't know what to do.

thanks. My brother had a job a couple of years back that had him on on rooftops all over Chicago installing antennas. He would bring his camera along and get unique shots of the skyline. So he started a website (in my sig) wth all of his shots and I decided to learn myself and add to the website. Its been a lot of fun learning the actual techinicals of photography and going out practicing different compostions and techniques.

hey, whats a good camera i can purchase for around $250. not for any specific reason, mostly to bring to concerts and vacations. my last nikon camera was a piece of shit, seemed like every picture comes out blurry and the zoom is terrible. p.s. not too big, and i like sony !

cool, then experiment as much as possible with different speeds. I would think the faster the speed the better the picture (of fog) but it all depends on the light at the time.

I'm in a photography contest with the following picture. They also have daily prizes which I wouldn't mind winning, so if you wouldn't mind checking my photo out, the top vote getters of the day win. Thanks to anyone who votes.

I love all these pictures - very nice!!!!

I was really into photography in high school and college (thought about majoring in it), and used my parents old Cannon AE-1 manual/film camera for most of my work. I don't have any editing programs, which I'd really love to learn sometime. I've been really wanting to get a digital SLR as well, although it's not in the budget until at least summer. But we travel a lot, and I'm stuck with a point and shoot Olympus, which isn't bad, but doesn't take near the quality that I'd want.

I just signed up for Photobucket, and hopefully can upload some pictures over the weekend to share!

Keep em coming - it's so inspiring to see all of these awesome pictures!

has anyone ever heard of zenfolio? I just created my own account and it is awesome to sell your photos, (if you didnt want to create and host your own site)....it costs 100 bucks a year but is completely worth it. All you need to do is upload your photos and they take care of everything else. I hope to make a few sales and it will pay for itself.

There's a Post-Doc in the lab that takes some really pretty Baltimore pictures, his kids, and pictures of people in the lab. I think he is really good at it, so I'll post a few here.

They're all so cool! I guess this is what you get when your camera isn't a POS.
