I haven't seen many people talk about this show, but I have high hopes. I thought Colter was good in Jessica Jones. I'm looking forward to binge watching this next weekend.

I'll definitely check this out. He was also my favorite character in JJ. However, I wasn't as big a fan of JJ as I was Daredevil. I'll admit I'm more of a fan of the classic suited up superhero. So I'm not sure if I'll really dig this one either, but we'll see.

The trailer looked really good. Hopefully it's a better told story than JJ.

eehhh, he's actually FAR more connected to Jessica Jones than Daredevil, so yea as far as that goes you unfortunately couldn't have done that any wronger I mean Luke Cage had a fairly large sized supporting role in I think almost half the JJ episodes, the meat of the show takes place after all that stuff in JJ (well obviously there will be some manner of flashbacks showing his origin). But JJ s1 was a quality series so it ain't like grueling homework to get thru.

I actually didn't even realize the debut was right here until early yesterday, I was so excited when it kicked in. I wonder how many people did a hardcore binge from minute 1 and are already done
I'm sure I'll have knocked out at least 3-5 of the eps by the end of the weekend. Although I also still have like at least 15 more episodes to go of the 2nd season of The Flash, I'd kinda wanted to be done that by the time season 3 was a go so I could start watching right along with everyone else.

well I mean, is it ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to have watched Jessica Jones? no, I think Marvel is working very hard to make sure each of these shows can stand on their own at the end of the day, I mean that really ultimately HAS to be the case. But, you will definitely be rewarded that much more richly as a viewer by buying into the overall narrative they're constructing here.

and yea Punisher is on, though it won't be coming out at least until the Defenders short series has debuted.

okay well yea first of all if you're going to do POI first anyway (and there are plenty of far worse choices to go there), and you didn't necessarily have a super hard on to do Luke Cage after that, yea I'd say yes if at all possible just watch JJ first.

Jessica Jones is a good show. You'll know after the first episode if it's something you'll like.

Two episodes into Cage and so far outside of some references there's nothing required from JJ.

while I guess technically they've been perfectly allowed to do it, but Marvel hasn't really indulged much in this making things more R-rated for even the Netflix series (unless you maybe count some of the more intense Daredevil violence), but so I was kinda shocked at just even in the very first episode here of Luke Cage they suddenly went closer than ever. I thought I picked up an F-bomb (though it wasn't super well enunciated) and certainly this is the furthest they've ever gone with nudity. Although, are there really strip clips that still do pasties? I realize not all strip clubs are fully nude, but I thought just normal topless was the general minimum.

or, ya know.... the bare minimum.

    hiiiiiiiiiyyyyyyyyooooooo!!

    Re: Marvel's Luke Cage (Netflix)

thru episode 6, and two things confused me a bit. Why/how was there an Obama reference? The current President in the MCU is Matthew Ellis (played by William Sadler), far as I know Obama doesn't even exist.

and seeming as how it played a major part in the advancement of the plot, I can't figure out how in the hell Cottonmouth and his men knew Luke's getaway van with the cop was, well, a van in the first place, and that it was green. So it made them MUCH easier to find. The van came from Claire's mother, that connection Cottonmouth couldn't possibly know anything about. Plus the van was gone from the rear of the barbershop by the time any other dirty cop showed up. How did they know they were in that?? I mean I picked this up right away in the moment, seems a bit of a plot hole to me.

oh and, mind you I don't at all say this as a criticism, just more I find it humorous. just that how I feel like I'd heard about Luke Cage being this series telling purely and entirely a "black world story", if you will, which I can totally understand, that makes sense. It just then cracks me up to think how the first 2 episodes of the series were directed by a white Irishman

I got about halfway through during the weekend but am enjoying it way more now. Luke is an admirable character. The bad guy is intriguing and it's interesting to see the contrast between the different Marvel Netflix characters. I'm a fan.
