No. It makes a few references but nothing that you can't figure out with some common sense.

Did you see all the JJ episodes with Claire? If she's still around then I'd at least keep going until she's out. She has an important role in Luke.

They also talk about the end of JJ, but if you don't care then it's no big deal.

I'm near the end here, only about 2-3 more episodes to go, and while I definitely really like it overall, but am I the only one who thinks the guy playing Diamondback is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too over the top? His performance is easily the weakest element to the story.

He's not over the top at all. I think he was well-done.

Just wrapped up episode 7. Great show so far. Haven't come across a Marvel Netflix series I haven't liked yet.

Also, as a white dude, I see nothing racist about this show at all. It's in fucking Harlem for Christ's sake. Anyone who thinks so needs a reality check.

Have one more episode to finish it out. Diamondback just doesn't feel natural. I can't tell if the actor is over-acting or if he was written poorly. He's not the worst character ever but I liked Cottonmouth better.

Luke Cage as a Family Matters Intro. It's pretty much the greatest thing ever.

Finished over the weekend. Pretty disappointed in how the finale. The second half of the season was way less enjoyable than the first. Really drags and Diamondback wasn't a very good villain.

hang on, has there been some supposed kind of racism backlash by somebody about the show? I don't think I'd heard about that coming into this from anywhere. certainly that it would be experience much more of a black point of view than any other Marvel related product so far (TV or film), which seems to make plenty of sense to me, but not to a degree of being racist or anything.

and I think you can tell just from some of the other comments here, and I've seen some people bring it up outside of ants, the idea of Diamondback not coming off too well in the show. Granted whether it being an issue of the acting by that guy or possible mediocre writing for that particular character, but that it would ultimately be one or the other.
The music they wound up going with, I think they pretty much wound up nailing it. Because as I told someone else, I couldn't remotely be described as someone who's a fan of hip hop, and I was into a lot of this stuff. Not all, mind you, but more than what I wasn't.

I didn't know there was anything racist about the show. I actually was more interested in the show because I liked the social commentary the show presented. I thought Luke was a great character and represented some great some great social virtues (aside from the cliche hero stuff).

I put this show right up there with Daredevil in the Marvel series rankings. The acting is a tad cheesy at times, but other than that I thought it was solid. I made it through the whole season in a couple of days.

Watched 11 and 12 this morning and will watch 13 tonight. I honestly think this is the best constructed season of the four Netflix Marvel series so far.

2 episodes to go; I really want to like this but it's getting really stupid.

I like the acting a lot (except Diamondback), I like the characters, I like the overall story, but there's so many dumb details to it.

shit like that ruins it for me. It's rapidly becoming a 2 star rating when I was thinking 4 for a while.

It's been a while since I watched the show, and I thought it was OK, but the ending, well, it doesn't leave much open. It's almost like if they do a season 2 it'll have to be a reboot. What will he do? A repeat of Season 1 except Moriah and Shades are the new archvillians? That's really the only way I see it playing out. Shades is slick. He gets out of his predicaments. In the same, but good guy way, so does Luke. Shades doesn't make a good antithesis for Cage because Shades actually respects him and is largely non-confrontational, preferring to be covert. Moriah, on the other hand, she's evil, a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I wasn’t looking forward to more of this show, but this trailer looks good.
