I'm not going to call anyone a moron, but singing politically motivated songs at a concert is way different than spending a lot of time between songs delivering a political monologue. You know what you're getting (and getting what you paid for) when the message is coming through song.
Performers can absolutely do it, but I'm also of the opinion that it's annoying. Dave has never really done it to any sort of noticeable degree in the past. Vedder does it all the time, which, again, is annoying - whether you agree with him or not. I'd rather escape all that bullshit at a concert. Vedder has kicked people out of the concert for telling him to shut up and sing.
Dave is cool. Vedder is a complete asshole. Pearl Jam has cool songs though.
