Re: Dating is miserable

Texting Houston how I feel and why I feel the way I do. We shall see how it buffs out. I'm curious to see her reaction. I am sensing that she will aim to maintain what already exists.

I think we have to be in the same city at the same time for us to truly experience the benefits of one another. As unlikely as that is, I believe wholeheartedly that is what the cause of the rifts are,

Drunk texted. Reread it this morning. Nothing nearly as dramatic as those posts allude to. Fucking red wine.

Any response from Houston? What kinds of things did you write? I would just be honest and own whatever you said. Im a horrible drunk texter...always wake up and find that I've texted a dozen people random shit. I need that app that makes you do maths before using your phone. In fact, I'm going to send a few drunk messages right now.

I still think you should get this girl out of your head and let the idea of her interfere with you finding someone/banging someone new.

As for me, still nothing, although I am going for drinks with a 40 slightly crazy woman this week, kinda excited, kinda afraid.

    Re: Dating is miserable

Oh, we had a full blown conversation. It wasn't like I texted and got no response, Thursday is her Friday because of work, so she was home chilling with her dogs.

We talked about the transition to Colorado and to stop worrying about the things I can't change. She is a big cheerleader for me going to Colorado with my buddy and getting out on my own. Her message in response to me being nervous and missing her, "Please, you are about to graduate. You're about to move to an incredible city with a very good friend. You get a chance to start your life! "

She has also told me before not to let the thought of her stop me from dating or going out with other girls. She hates the idea of me taking myself off the market because of her. I've fooled around with other girls since my trip and been on a smattering of dates, but none of them were all that memorable. Perhaps it is me not letting it be more than casual encounters, but the impending move also really hampered any excitement I have over meeting someone new.

I'm very stoked and scared shitless. First time moving out of state and it's all happening super quickly. Turn 25 in May, graduate a week later, and then depending on when apartment move in dates are available, will be in CO as early as June 1.

Didn't know where else to post this, so I figured this was as good as place as any.

Applied and got approved for a 2 bedroom apartment in Arvada Co this week. My buddy and I will be slated to move in by Memorial Day Weekend. Scared, excited, and stressed. It's all coming together though.

Been keeping up with Houston. Is what it is. We'll see how her May visit to CO for work goes.

Well, I have to go break up with somebody...

I've been dating someone since late Nov or early Dec. We dated a bit last year and I broke it off, but he was persistant so I gave him another chance.

He said I love you and I definitely don't feel the same way so now I have to break his heart. UGH I Hate this part of dating...

    Re: Dating is miserable

My girlfriend and I have been together for about 16 months now. In July she started a residency in Indianapolis, which is about 90 minutes from my house in Cincinnati. I've casually started applying for jobs out there, and today I finally got a call-back on one of them. What does everyone think? A year and change too soon to move to a new city for someone? I'm about 99% sure I'm going to marry her. My only concern is that she may not stick in Indy when her residency is over. She's about 85% sure that she will be offered a job with her current health system, but I'd hate to relocate and then she ups and hauls off for another city and I'm stuck somewhere where I only moved for her. At the same time, if it's a good position, I'd hate to pass it up and then have trouble finding a job out there in May when she can confirm that she's staying put.

    Decisions.

I would say don't talk to us about it, but rather talk to her about it. IMO, way to soon to pick and move with her given circumstance. Her desires will ultimately be the deciding factor. Sometimes a difference of 200k between the same job but in a different location and health network, not to mention signing bonuses and all that jazz. I'd say stay put but you should be talking to her about it, not us!

We've talked at great length. She thinks she's staying put and wants me to move asap. But I can't deal with "I think I'll get a job here." I need something absolute.

Then it sounds like you're moving. Just try to find something within 40 minutes lol not really a conundrum here. But I do hope it works out for ya. What is she doing? Internal, surgery, psych, anesthesia, etc?

She's in healthcare administration. Nothing clinical. But Xavier University requires all of their admin students to do a one-year residency to graduate.

I'd do it for sure. But don't think of it as "only moving for her". You are moving for us. If you think the other way, only bad feelings can come of it down the road.

Correct. We see this as an opportunity to finally start our life together. After over a year of dating and trying to figure out adulthood and our careers (and we still are not there yet, but we've both made progress), we finally see this is the first step toward spending forever together.

It'll be a good test of your relationship. Also making a compromise and working together to make it work in a world where you are both happy. Just don't bog yourself down with the "what if's".
