Re: Favorite beer of choice?

Schlafly made a 12 pack combo of four different stouts. Had the milk chocolate stout. It was delicious.

Also back to drinking beer since it's okay to moderate if those are the empty calories I consume. So worth it

Mixed stout 4 pack? Gonna have to look for that. Their coffee stout is pretty solid for a lighter/more drinkable stout if I recall correctly.

Their Grapefruit IPA was also great, although you have to pour carefully to avoid the pulp at the bottom

All about moderate beer. 1 beer Mon thru Thursday. (Sunday through Thursday when its not football season. Fridays and Saturdays are fair game though. And if its a Friday at my beer buddies house we drink a stupid number of calories.

That's a pretty solid plan as far as a weekly drinking schedule goes. I dropped about 100 lbs a few years ago and I still employ a similar plan to maintain my current weight. Drinking one beer a night during the week and then a free for all during the weekend has always kept my weight within a 5 pound range since dropping the excess....except for the holidays but that is more due to the food than the beer

Sorry it has been awhile since I've posted here. Hope everyone is well!

    Take care,
    Scott

So my local Wegman's was selling bottles (750ml) of Hardywood's Farmhouse Pumpkin (pumpkin saison) for $2.99, picked up a few bottles....may go back and get some more.

I tried Julius on Saturday night, honestly was not as good as I thought it'd be. I've heard the hype, just didn't taste that good to me. Too much peach, not as hoppy as I like, either. Sorry to rain on your enjoyment parade! Definitely still drinkable, unlike the Dogfish Higher Math I tried that same night. Could only stomach one sip, probably the worst beer I've ever had in my entire life.

higher math still on shelves for $10/ea. doesn't appeal to me at all.

disappointed to hear about KJ. I've never had anything from treehouse. Frankly, I won't travel there unless I'm bringing someone that doesn't drink so I can double my purchase. too many good breweries closer to me

Their session IPA is my favorite IPA out there. I haven't found one as perfectly balanced as that one yet.

Sam needs a kick in the ass...his core beers are solid, though now that I've gotten deeper into craft, 90 minute is too malty for me. That said, most of their beers are ridiculously overpriced. WWS is great, but the only thing that makes it worth $36/4pk is the high ABV

Was not the heat that did it for me, at all. It literally just tasted disgusting.

Yup, sounds about right, except if the Robitussin, in addiction to being infected, had been previously digested by another person, pissed back into a bottle, then infused with horse excrement and then lit on fire.

I just thought this the other night when I had a 90m. It's still very tasty, but you're right, a little too much on the malt. 60 is still my favorite from them, the tried and true, can't really complain if you're drinking one.

Good to hear people are catching on...I've had this opinion for many years. Totally agree. With the platform they have and the $$ they are armed with it's a shame they don't produce better beer.

I just saw that on a local trading group on Facebook

so besides the obvious, that we want craft beer to stay local, original, and individualized, what are the actual pros and cons for the consumer?

much of it is very good. I just think they have way too many variants that often miss the target. That said, since I can go to the brewery often (and the food is all locally sourced, fresh, and outstanding) I get to try a lot of their brew pub exclusives, which are often very good

I'll always love DFH for a number of reasons- that brewery was my main intro to craft beer, the company does a lot of wonderful things for the local economy and community, and they do everything they possibly can in-house or local, from the food to the beer (hell, they make their own mozzarella).

I just wish their prices were more reasonable. no reason that many of their bombers should hit the $14 mark, when HF is $10 and doesnt have the distro that DFH has

I just saw that on a local trading group on Facebook

so besides the obvious, that we want craft beer to stay local, original, and individualized, what are the actual pros and cons for the consumer?

Increased distribution is the biggest PRO. I'm psyched that Ballast Point is about to start Indy distribution. Without a billion dollar buyout we would probably never see them here. I'll always support a business being local and staying that way, but I'm also psyched that these breweries will be distributing here so I can have easier access. It hurts the people who are always trying to "win" trades but unless there is a problem with the product I don't really see an issue.

    Re: Favorite beer of choice?

I said it a while ago that it won't be surprising to see more breweries the size of CCB selling out. I fully support it as long as the product doesn't change.
