I urge you and anyone else to give 6/25/08 a listen. I have been pushing this version for almost 10 years I don't know if anyone has ever taken me up on it, but I highly suggest giving it a listen. Tim's solo is absolute fire and Carter plays off him so well. Then there's the extended outro and it sounds like the roof is going to blow off the place. It's impossible not to get goosebumps every time.

Gorge N2 02 for Loving Wings Great version.

I remember in 02 thinking how badly I wanted to hear Gravedigger full band...grass is always greener I guess. I would absolutely love to see him play that solo again. Those really were the best versions of that song. The full band version just never worked for me.

Two Step from the first WH disc is the best Two Step.

Two Step in the rain is by far the most overrated thing on this board.

Didn't back read but I would say:

Two Step: 6-11-2001 in the rain
    #41: Listener Supported or 4/20/2002
Lie In Our Graves: 12-7-1998 (one day before the LT btw)
    Ants Marching: Just kidding....
    Rapunzel: Live at Chicago 1998
    Good Good Time: SPAC '04
JTR: I personally love the version from Folsom Field
    Seek Up: SPAC 2001
Watchtower: My favorite is actually Hartford 2004 after the song had short break
    Jimi Thing: Central Park 2003

Those are just off the top of my head.

    .
I don't think it is overrated, just not understood.

I believe that two step in the rain/hail/thunder was the best live experience with the song ever. I have seen Two Step live 18 times and nothing ever came close to the high I felt after the one in 2001 at Giants Stadium. It was my first DMB concert (after having tickets in 1999 and 2000 and being unable to go) and it solidified my love for this band. That Two Step will always be a top five moment in my life...it was that good.

As far as a live version of the song goes, no it is not the best. Musically they made some mistakes as they were probably both nervous and feeling an extreme adrenaline rush from the scene unfolding in front of them. As a result, there are better versions of Two Step that exist for listening purposes. I agree with the post that says 6-11-2001 was something you had to be there for! I am lucky enough that I was!

I like the versions of Two Step from Fall 98, but in my opinion they took them to a whole new level in 08. Some of the best versions of that song came out of that tour. LT 13 is up there as well. The interplay between Carter and Tim is far superior to what they did in 98. Tim's solos are way more intense and driving and so is Carter's drumming. Whereas in the versions from 98 Tim's solos are good, but Carter just keeps playing the same train beat throughout the solo.

I agree about Two Step "in the rain". That version is no different than any other Two Step that tour other than for the people that were there. In fact, it's a shortened version with no Carter solo or Butch solo, so other than the fact that it rained, I'm not sure why people still try and pass this as a definitive version.

I enjoy versions from 2008, but to me, the 12/11/98 is just perfect. I love how Tim seamlessly goes from distortion to clean in his solo.

I love 12-7-1998 for Two Step as well. I love the Tim and Boyd back-and-forth.

Okay, show me a better full band Fool to Think then

If it isn't all that special, then surely there's one you find better?

That extended outro is pretty sweet and a one time deal on a song that's never really provided much extension or improvisation in its history.

Please don't mistake this as heated, just curious as to what you suggest. I've made my case. You're a knowledgeable, longtime poster on here, I'm eager to hear what you think is better.

Phenomenal performance. Carter's rudimentary mindf*ck at the end between the cowbell, hi-hat and snare is the stuff that makes you love Carter Beauford.

This version is absolutely insane. I remember being there and my buddy kept trying to sing "can't help falling in love" which is cool, but i noticed Dave was still going with whatever you want to call that (like scat/wail) and i had to tell my buddy to shut up because he was screaming.. but yes. I watch this once a week

    Yes - THIS.

Those GGT lyrics are so good. The end when he talks about a friend of his who is dying...puts things in perspective.

Also maybe the best set of lyrics for Crazy Easy on that tour too...right up there with 7/16/04.

Abso-fucking-lutely. So glad I was there for that moment. Helluvan encore for my birthday show. The energy in that Two Step, and a truly one-of-a-kind jam made it so special.

Thank you for sharing your time with me
Oh this time, oh this time
I got a phone call from a friend, says they're not
Doing too well, not gonna be here too long but
The time we had was good, so I guess I can't complain
But I said to my friend, "man, I'd like to have you for 100 years but
    I'll take what I can"
A good, good time tonight, that's what we should have
In case as we're leaving this place
The train comes with our name on it, it's sad.
Roll up, roll out, drink up and dance tonight
'cause maybe we won't ever see each other again
but till next time, it's a good, good time tonight

If it isn't all that special, then surely there's one you find better?

That extended outro is pretty sweet and a one time deal on a song that's never really provided much extension or improvisation in its history.

Please don't mistake this as heated, just curious as to what you suggest. I've made my case. You're a knowledgeable, longtime poster on here, I'm eager to hear what you think is better.
I personally just can't get behind any full band live FTT... not sure about crashintonick

Just watch the next two minutes from where I linked from.

Still might be my favorite show I've ever been to

I'd probably go benaroya because it's just acoustic. Full band: I guess 7/21/04.

2012 sucked and performances weren't good IMO
