Re: LOST (the tv show)

Chad, this was one of their very sly little ways of keeping the secret until the last possible minute that that was all a flashforward, and not a flashback. I remember in the last couple weeks coming up to the season 3 finale, Damon and Carlton were saying to the press "there's one last batch of events key to Jack's past that we have to show you". But just like how all of the little moments in, say, The Sixth Sense do 'play by the rules' to go along accordingly with the twist when you look at them on a repeat viewing, as do they here as well. Yes, Christian is absolutely dead at that point, as it's of course post-island crash. But considering the mental state Jack is in at that point, that when you look at exactly what he says in that scene to the other doctor, it's reasonable he could've said that just to try and make a point. That with the raging alcoholic that Jack's dad was (and again, taking into account that by that point Jack himself is bombed and feels like he's starting to lose his mind), he's essentially saying "my dad was SUCH a boozer, that yea even though he's dead, you could go right now and still find more alcohol in his system than what I've got in me".

The reaction on the other doctor's face also helps sell the moment, because it can be interpreted multiple ways. For you to initially think it's in the past, and then even knowing later on that it's in the future.

I'm in S4 of my rewatch. The Constant is so, so good. Truly an amazing episode.

FINALLY getting around to giving this show a full re-watch. I sit here at my computer all day doing what I do watching TV/movies all day anyways, that's how I just got through the Sopranos.

Currently on S1E9 (Solitary) - I forgot how fucking good this show was and it's a travesty that it's been 6 years since I revisited it. Can't wait to get into the meat and potatoes of the show.

I just finished a full rewatch. This show was so good. I like the finale more every time I watch it. I actually think the entire final season is much better if you know what the "flash sideways" is. You don't spend half your time trying to figure out what the hell is going on, you just get to enjoy the characters.

funnily enough that's right around when Carlton Cuse entered the picture. The first full episode he worked on as co-head of the show was 01x10.

Dude, 25 eps in S1. That's unheard of now. I'm only on 16.

I forgot how much happened in that one season, crazy.

I've watched the series three full times I think (with an occasional viewing of a single episode here and there)

don't think I can do another one, would rather allocate that time to sopranos

there are a shitload of episodes of sopranos also however

and ohhhhhh how does Dexter beg to differ with BOTH of those answers

and I think the 2 hour s1 finale for Lost technically counts as one episode, but yea still more rare here a decade later. And not really all that much felt like filler.

So I'm on Do No Harm right now, S1E20 where Jack is marrying the chick he saved... his best man is Scut Farkas from A Christmas Story and Sarah, the woman he's marrying, is the mother from Modern Family.

I've been slowly working on this show for the first time over the summer. I literally just finished within the last 10 minutes.

What in the actual fuck happened. I mean, I get it (I think) but that was fucking dumb. I really liked the show, but god dammit that is a frustrating end.

Definitely a show that has significant re-watch value.

what, you mean that like you think they shit the bed in the finale?

well first of all, let me tell you no, they were not dead the entire time and/or the whole experience wasn't purgatory It sincerely baffles me how anyone could still be thinking that all this time later. The thing that could come maybe the closest to describing as "purgatory" was just the side-ways world of season 6, but even that was not purgatory (at least, the typical definition most people have of that word). Yes, it was a sort of place for after all of their deaths for them to unite together before moving on to true eternity, but there's no judgement involved whatsoever.

The good news is, the large majority of questions were indeed answered by the end! If you paid attention adequately (and no doubt, it requires A LOT of VERY close attention), mixed with some deductive reasoning. In fact I'd bet there'd be like at least a 75% chance I'd be able to answer any question you still may have, and I watched the same show as you. Though admittedly many MANY times since

I'm not sure they shit the bed, no. But they clearly left a lot open for interpretation.

The second paragraph you wrote is not at all what I took from the show.

My biggest question is what is real. The world we saw the whole time, the parallel universe introduced in the final season, or both. I think it's both. Which means no one is dead at all. Kind of.
