you can tell its just a free form jam. they should jam more songs like that..unstructured free for alls. clocks in at a little over 15:00.
and  for leroi. his solo on this version is the shit.discuss.

Great version - not sure I'd call it entirely free form but it's as close as the band gets.
I'm really surprised GIG got zero play this year given how much it had changed in recent years.

I've had that fenway GIG disc in my car for over a year now (just had an extra copy burned layin around) I've been listening to the hell outa that lately and yes Roi's solo is awesome
 Nothing to 'out of this world' but that's just part of what made Roi so damn good.. he knew when to let it out and when to lay back

GIG is one of those songs that has evolved over years, and has become more "upbeat" over time. The recent outro's have given the song arugably a different prespective. The orginal GIG's back in 2000 are not as long, but more dark, and if you are a fan of this song check out the one of Live Trax 3 to get a "taste".
I am not saying the orginaly version is better than the newer, honestly, I just like listening to songs evolve over time. |

my favorite GiG was at the Gorge in 04 with the Stefan slide intro and the hoedown outro.
for the record, there were better GiGs last year than the one that made the sampler. i don't the the transition into Black Water was very clean on it.

I actually feel it went on ad naseaum on LT6. Boyd just kept doing the same thing OVER and OVER. I would have much preferred a Roi and Boyd jam. Just too repetitive for my liking.
