TJ Miller has to be doing alot of drugs.

He does seem to come off like he would be a douche in person.

Basically nothing happened all season. It started off promising with the new internet stuff and getting the patent, but then it went nowhere.



I dont really see the argument that the Erlich character was holding the show back... its not the characters, its the writing... but yeah good god that was an awful way to write him off the show. Seems more like they finished filming before TJ Miller decided to part ways with the show.

yea, this season was weird, overall. I feel it had a few more 'serious' parts than past seasons and did a fair amount of decent, deeper character development, which is good, but those moments fell short from being the sort of Louie or Crashing vibe, and then wasn't funny either.

Whole season kinda felt like filler episodes. Tied together nicely but I dunno. I think it was mostly the second half that was just kinda there. Didn't seem to move them forward.

Yeah Id agree the first half was pretty solid.

The stuff with Dinesh and his hacker GF was kind of stupid.

There wasnt enough Jared this season either IMO

Definitely the weakest season. I guess the purpose of this season was to show Richard's character develop from wimp to asshole to confident. That's cool and all but they did nothing with the other characters and the storyline did not progress.

However, now that Erlich is gone, maybe next season, they see success and they move out of that place?

Still a great show, just an overall disappointing season.

not sure where there was character development. richard became an asshole for like a grand total of an episode and a half

I wonder if there will be ratings declines for S5 without miller and now that more and more people are seeing that the plotlines are basically the same as entourage

Richard becoming way more confident/doing crazy things, the guys having some discussions that were more 'serious' or about emotions/relationships (sort of) than previous seasons of just joke after joke, even Jared got fleshed out a little more.

Now, it's relative to past years of this show, not in general, so I'm not saying we have some huge backstories to delve into their psyches ; only so much development you can do with show like this. But generally speaking, it felt to me that they went for a little more meat for the characters this season.

I forgot about this plot line. I'm really not sure what it even served to the overall story moving forward. They must be planning to have her come back next season and [surprise] derail the company only at the last minute [surprise] to have some loop hole save them.

As far as I remember the only point it served was her to tell them how to hack Hoolicon. Though that was all voided anyway So if it never happened nothing would really change besides an ep or so worth of hijinx.

I honestly still enjoyed this season and thought it was better than the last. Agree with others that nothing really actually happened in terms of progressing the crew forward, but there were still so many LOL funny moments and that's all I can really hope for at this point.

Yea, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it and don't really have major problems with it. As I think I said last page, I know the show isn't going to be some brilliant plot driven thing, it's just a goofy comedy show.

Having said that, I think the writing started hinting at the comedy-as-truth thing that's been going on with, as I said before, Louie, and now Master of None, Crashing, etc. But those moments didn't really go far enough, so it just kinda sat there as a non-comedic thing. It only happened like 2-3 times in any sort of majorly noticeable way, but it was definitely sprinkled throughout moreso than previous seasons. And I only picked up on that because I binged the other ones again right before this one started.

But still one of my favorite shows.

Good stuff, I've always tried to pay attention to it to see if I can tell if anything changes, but I'm not quick enough. Can't believe how much they pack in there.

I loved Ed Chambers but when he's used so minimally I think it adds to the moment. It'd be easy to take it for granted if he was in every episode. Sorta like Russ.

I liked the first episode. Wasn't LOL that much but still very enjoyable. The stallions bit was great.

I'm glad they didn't use the same formula they've used the first four seasons. Its nice to see them have some success and move forward.

Yeah I agree. His character felt better than in his previous seasons. It showed character growth while retaining his quirks. It felt like he was actually the main character rather than sharing time with Erlich.

Erlich's storyline had played out. There was no more room for his character in the show's progression.

Far from excellent but it has been a nice upgrade over last year IMO.

I just am tired of the story going nowhere. Were more than halfway through this season now and the only thing to move things forward that has happened was basically Sunday's episode.

May the only show I've watched where I'm just there for the laughs, haven't really been concerned with the story in some time now. Just so many enjoyable characters like Jared, Dinesh, Gilfoyle, Jin Yang, Gavin Belson, among others.

For me I think its more about the way the first 3 seasons went compared to the last 1.5, theyve been totally different in pacing.

The characters definitely make the show, which is kind of a part of the problem. I love Big Head, Laurie and Monica too but they seem to have been hardly a part of things this year, when the story has more going on, theyre naturally more involved.

This season does seem more focused on Richard than any in the past I think.
