Finished my Fringe rewatch and decided on doing a Dexter rewatch.

Man, those early episodes were outstanding.

Finishing Season 3 of my rewatch and it didn't occur to me before, but I used to think the big bad was Miguel Prado, since he was the major antagonist of S3. But now I think it's more George King (The Skinner), he made it up to the last episode. Just an interesting observation I had.

    Miguel was awful.
Hate trying to sell people on Dexter when in order to get to Trinity and the best season Season 4,
they have to trudge through brutal Season 3.

    Season 6 is p underrated.

Should've cut S5, condensed S7+S8 into one, scrapped Vogel Elway Dex Jr etc, and changed the ending.
Could've been a strong 6-season series instead of dragging it out for 8 and the worst television series ending ever.
ExistenceNow I remember you not liking Season 6 very much. Why?

I called the big twist after the first episode, and Hanks acting made it virtually unwatchable.

If you really want to label someone as the main antagonist or "big baddie" of S3, then it's definitely Prado. Prado not being the last one killed doesn't really mean a whole lot imo he still appeared in nearly every episode (the skinner appeared in maybe half the episodes), WAY more screen time (we hardly get to see or learn a whole lot about the Skinner at all), and Prado serves as a bigger threat to Dexter for the majority, if not nearly the entirety, of the season. Prado was the reason the Skinner went after Dexter in the first place if I recall correctly. idk though, I don't really see how that's much of an interesting observation at all. is the skinner much more sadistic, violent, and "bad" than Prado? debatable. but the guy is still nothing more than side character in the story.

Eh correctly predicting Dave opening with DDTW doesn't make me enjoy it any less.
Also we all saw what happens when this series goes the "unpredictable" route.
    Yikes.

I didn't have an issue with the Hanks casting.
Could've been better, yeah, but he definitely didn't take me out of the story.
Not to give Colin Hanks a pass - Dexter was littered with many worse acting performances than him too.

Assume you've only watched S6 once? Maybe twice?
I'd recommend giving it another chance. I recently did and it was enjoyable.
Probably not as unwatchable as you remember.

Season 6 can be summed up in one 8-second clip.

me either, the ending felt really thrown together, but it was interesting to see that foreshadowing and hope the writers were that thoughtful.

Just let it go. Don't do this. Let that horrible ending die and let's just move on as a show that was once awesome and became terrible.

Would like to think this is Michael C. Hall doing major damage control after that abysmal series finale.
We've already literally seen the worst they could possibly do.
I'm on board for this new project.

A friend of mine does craft service on Shameless and he was talking to one of the camera men not too long ago who said the Dexter spin-off was coming and was supposedly being announced this summer. So we'll see what happens.

I'm really hopeful that it can undo that horrible finale.

“First off, doesn’t a spinoff mean that it’s focused on another character? I don’t see how it’s a spin-off, but more of a recontextualized Dexter,” Michael told the Daily Beast. “He’s still alive as far as the story goes, and he didn’t really share with us what was going on with him in those final moments, which is a part of what some—not many viewers—found upsetting about the ending… Never say never. But right now, I’m interested in doing other things.”

I can usually find positivity in anything, I even enjoyed the finale of Lost - but there were zero redeeming qualities about the Dexter finale. It was just laughably bad.

If he thinks our not knowing what Dexter was up to as a lumberjack was the issue with the finale then he's clueless.
